:bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::thanks:

Huge thank you to Jean at Active Autowerke for letting me take advantage of their excellent prices on supercharger setups. To those that have said AA's customer service is lacking, I'm sorry but there was none of that here. I've dealt with Jean before about my software, and also when my buddy and I took his car for some work(blower and nitrous install). All of this was over a year ago. Both those times we were taking care of with the utmost respect for the customer. Everyone I met was more than pleasent(Jean,Scrappy,Omar,Kirk,Juha,Jerry(JMweb) and I remember riding in the shops stage two silver m3 and watching videos of the ring on their tv. Fun times! We were even offered to eat lunch in their break room and were just treated like people should be treated.

And now coming back to Jean to purchase a blower( again prices are sick, PM him!) I was not only remembered:luv: but had all of my questions answered knowledgeably and on the spot. Jean helped me find exactly what I wanted power wise, and reassured me of the reliability, support and custom, inshop tuning I was looking for. I have always thought of active as the premier BMW tuner, and just want to share with everyone that they are still on top of their game and competitive with power and pricing for all their customers.

I will be doing the install myself in my own garage, and will most likely be taking my time doing just a couple hours of work each night in my free time. I will update this thread periodically with the progress, and hopefully a dyno very soon after the install. All components of the kit should be assembled by next week and I will be boosted by next track day.:woot:

-Some details of my excitement-
Gen IV Level 1 @ 7.5 psi with the c38-81trim blower
420+ rwhp with my headers/full exhaust and IC sprayer
Software for no cats, EGR delete, and adaptation for 100+ leaded.( I'll be doing a 93, a 50/50 mix of 93 and 116 leaded, and a full 116 dyno for sure)

I know it's no turbo, and the numbers wont wow most of you already blown guys, but I want useable power in the twisties . Plus, I drag/drift/autox/sebring ALOT and a 500hp Daily driver seems like just the right amount of:evil: with lots of reliability for the time to come. Plus, there's always stage 2 with AA's new meth and tune(500whp) but thats better left for later upgrades.

Sorry for the long rant, I'm just too excited. Again, PM Jean@ActiveAutowerke for yours:thumbsup:

what would be an average price for a shop to do the install? I have no idea how long it takes a pro to do this install???

blower just went in:drool:

mounting the oil lines to the blower, and pressurizing. Then, putting in the fans, new belt, and adjustable supercharger brace. Hopefully finish-up tonight with the intercooler piping and intercooler.

my best guess would be 2-3 days max... Im no pro and I'll be done within 16 hours of actual labor. stage 2 would probably take an extra day to run the lines and mount the tank and pump for meth. I have no clue what install cost would be as I am doing it myself, but I would be willing to do it for under $1000 if that means anything.

IC piping is done. what a pain. only parts left are air filter, maf, blower inlet pipe, and a BOV hookup. Oh and finding somewhere to mount my hella supertones now that the ic is there.

-update-

kits been done since tuesday and got the ecu tues morn too. Tried to go for a drive but turn the key and... nothing... starter solenoid clicks once and the engine wouldnt turn. figured the batt died so i tried a jump pack... nothing still. went and got a new batt at autozone (49-d)... still nothing... just a click and everything drops to 8.5 - 9 Volts. Couldn't do much for the rest of the day so figuered I'd take a break and deal with it wednesday.

Wednesday... After doing some house hunting with the misses( yeah im installing a blower in the middle of a move PLUS summer semester starts in 6 days... I like to pace myself:rofl:) Talked to Jean and Craig at Active for a bit. Thank you guys so much for the knowledge and help diagnosing the problem. Craig told me to tap the starter, jump it, check the current draw on the starter, etc... All signs pointed to the starter. Well, Finally got the starter out( holy sht what a nightmare, took like 4 hrs) and bench tested it. It's fried. :( I'll have to wait till i get a new starter+solenoid to feel the boost. god this sucks:bawling:

On a good note the kit was sooo much fun to install. Instructions were spot on and everything did go a little smoother than expected. IC piping was a bit of a pain but I expected that. Just sucks that something so basic as a failed starter had to ruin something I've been waiting and working so hard for.

Oh well, that's life. Cheers.:dave:

Congrats on the install. All that work and then to encounter the starter issue, but at least now you know what it is. I know what you're going to go through when that baby fires! Congrats bro!

You sure do have a beautiful engine bay to go with a really sick looking car.

I had a similar experience trying to start my car, and it ended up the ground strap from the engine mount to the chassis was disconnected. (oops)

Thank you Sir. I feel the same way about your car.

not air horns but Hella supertones with a custom paint scheme. They're pretty popular with the sti and evo guys. they are really loud(louder than some of the smaller 2 or 3 trumpet air horn setups) but they are also very directional in projection. If you stand on the side or back of the car they sound slightly louder than stock, but if you stand in front of the car... well... you wont be able to for long cause even air horns run out of air eventually and these dont:rofl:

Thanks, that means alot coming from someone with an engine as clean as yours;) This boost sure is fun isnt it. Actually the part that impressed me the most is just normal driving under 4k rpm. The car is such a pleasure to drive with that extra torque available down low. I think next I'll be ordering the IC spraybar to help combat the FL summer heat. and a wideband to go with my boost/vac and volt gauges.:woot:

Thanks Jean:bow: She feels great!

I still have a check engine light btw. maybe it just needs some more time to adapt and clear the code? I'll take it to autozone and get a read out to see what code its throwing. might be something unrelated to the cats or air pump.

Jean@ActiveAutowerke
05-20-2009, 10:16 AM
You're welcome.

Hey is the light still there? If so have you had a chance to get the code read?

It went away after a little while then came back on, so I just cleaned my maf yesterday and made sure all the electrical connections i fiddled with are tight. I'll get the codes read this weekend when i have a spare moment.

I been too busy to really enjoy her and make some nice vids for you guys :(
