As promised a long time ago I ran my father's Z06 today... I didn't get it on video as it was spur of the moment leaving work and there were no passengers. It was perfect because I was actually running 110 Octane and Methanol... or so I thought... That damn Z06 is FAST!!! His car is stock besides a K&N intake (which they claim 28HP but I doubt it) and from 60-160mph my car could only pull 1 car on him (his front bumper was about a 1/2 car legth off my back bumper)!!!! My car is deff. having SOME issues as it cut throttle on me 4 times during each run (just cut power then came back on) which didn't help matters, but I still wasn't going to blow him away! Man I have some serious respect for the Z06, can't wait till we procharge it in a couple weeks, then he's gonna blow my doors off :lmao:.

The Z06 is no joke. They are FAST, especially in the top end.

Z06 is incredibly light and has the ability to smoke us. When he slaps a Procharger on its going to blow HPF 2 car out of the water for half the cost. People under estimate the power those cars have. Z06 anyday over our cars.

I dont know what you are talking about when you say "for half the cost". Arent you forgetting the C6 Z06 is $70k+ new?
C6 Z06 + boost is more expensive than E46 M3 + HPF stage 2. Especially when you look at insurance rates on a Z06. I remember calling for a quote from AAA, my M3 is $105/month, and they want more than 3 times that for a C6 Z06. Maybe because it was here in vegas but im gonna have to pass.

You should have smoked him from what I've seen...

Gonna need more than 3.2L to compete with 7.0L

Good run. Your car must be really fast. Pulling one and half cars on a z06 is no joke. Keep in mind they are geared perfect for 60-160 (just changed into 2nd to top of fourth).

Did he have stock tires?

No way he is getting 28hp from K&N alone. Most of the gains they get are from a tune. K&N plus tune will give you 28 hp because they run mid 10's a/f from the factory so leaning it out will make it gain power.

i think hes refering to the cost of the FI system itself...

brand new, the stage 1 procharger kit for the C6 LS7 putting down 622 RWHP on 6 PSI on pump gas is $7,290

while the HPF stage 2 kit that youre comparing it to puts down 518 rwhp on pump gas and 670 rwhp on alcohol injection for $18,490

Evan... Sounds like your car definitely wasn't running quite right. If it cut throttle than you may be overboosting. There is a fail-safe that causes a boost cut if your car overboosts for any reason such as W/G lines coming off. Please work with my guys and we'll get you squared away.

But yes, the Z06 is a fast machine. It's hard to compensate for a lot of displacement in an extremely light car. It's impressive that you still beat him while your car was cutting throttle.

Chris,

I agree with you. Even though I am not a believer of number racing anything can happen on the road but with the 2 different Z06's something seems funny. ZO6's are light and very powerfull but you see lightly modded M6's taking stock ZO6's at the top end.

From the vids I have seen and the numbers a HPF should be about 5-15 mph higher at the quarter than a ZO6 now from 60-160 that Evan mentioned he should be at least 10 car lenghts ahead not to mention more than that.

Here is a vid of a buddy of mine (M6) vs stock ZO6.

Comparisons like "well my car beat this car and that car beat another car so I should beat that other car" are often used by people to determine who's car is faster or who's car is down on power, etc.

One step worse, your car barely beat this car and my friends car beat a car like the one you raced so your car should be 5-15mph higher.

Something sounds wrong here. Your car is making 626rwhp and the Z06 was a car behind at those speeds? Im going to have to say you should have pretty much blown him away.

None of our turbo kit customers should have their power cut on a pull. There are some safety features that can make this happen and they were doing their job. Better to have a slower car than a damaged engine.

I'm sure we'll see a rematch once we correct this issue.

I know the stock c6 z06's are very fast, BUT I still think you should have pulled more. With that said, I believe you will find out that you car is down on power actually!! Either way, you better watch out when he procharges that thing because unlike m3's we all know that the z06's can fit some sick rubber on the stock rear-end.
To the best of my knowledge, a stock c6 z06 does about 122-127 in the 1/4 mile depending on tires and so-on. And, don't the HPF stg. 2's trap like 127-131mph or so?? I still think you could pull a lot more up top.

The higher you go the better your chances of pulling on a z06. Until 4th they will be competitive, their 5th and 6th gears are really tall and help give them good gas mileage(avoids gas guzzler tax). The stock c6 and zr1 have better 5th and 6th gear ratios.
