Questions on nitrous

What are some of the realities to putting in a nitrous system, it says 800 bucks for a system but what are the total costs? Is it possible to install a kit on your own, or is it a professional install only kinda thing? also do you need any parts beyond the kit, things that will beef up the engine so you don't destroy 1000 dollar parts by using a 800 dollar system?

The trick is to not be stupid. 50 shot is the max without having to adjust timing. Do it with a window switch/WOT switch and a wet kit.
