Not sure why you posted this here in the Forced Induction forum instead of in the General forum since you definitely won't have any Forced Induction options in the $500 range, but with a $500 budget I would recommend going with the Shark Injector. Do a search for it on here or go to the turnermotorsport.com website for more info.
Actually... here you go, I'll save you the trouble.

As your budget increases I'd recommend doing an intake and upgrading your exhaust. Hope this helps.

I always heard that a shark injector is a bad idea since it really doesn't do much for you performance wise.

No mods will give you really any performance unless you do something like headers and software which is over 500. You can just do cosmetic stuff with 500. :)
Maybe save up $1000 for intake +software from VFengineering? Proven 15whp gain.

im looking for mods that are cheep i would like to start going beyond cosmetic, the more cosmetic the less happy i am with other cosmetic mods. im a full time student so money is tight, and as u could guess owning a bmw and not having money is a great combo. but ya anything that you guys do thats cheep that make the car go faster or look a lot better would be appreciated.

take everything out of your car, radio, speakers, extra seats, door panels, insulation, center console, headliner, everything in the trunk, etc. This is all free and you probably save over 300 pounds and your car will be faster and handle better and you saved yourself $500 dollars.

im interested in nitrous but dont know enough about it... im not much of a tuner so the kit would have to be pretty plug and play kinda thing. are they difficult to install? also where is there a wet kit for 500 bucks? novare330?

The reason I suggested the shark injector to the OP is because he has a 328ci, and the performance gains with the shark injector are actually more noticeable on the 323/328 versus the 325/330. Also, the fact that the shark reprogramming is easily REVERSIBLE makes it a good thing in the event that you have to uninstall it for whatever reason.

You can pick up a DynoTune wet kit for under $400 for the basic kit. You'd need some add-ons, but it'd get you started. Purge and bottle heater would put you just over $500. You'd want to get a controller and a few accessories down the line line, but it's a start.

Just got forced into a completely new set a of breaks and rotors, also i had to fix my e-brake. FML i did end up getting drilled and slotted brakes by some good company though, and not at a bad price since i knew a guy... regardless of a deal, there goes all mod money. the wet kit from dynotune? are you running one? i have not heard much about them...

with your sixth gear you can opt for 3.46 off a automatic..for alot more torque but shorter time in the revs..
you have a 3.07, 3.12 will feel nice, 3.46 will tighten it up alot alot more..
I didnt like the de-acceleration part in first or 2nd gear during traffic, or the out of breath feeling and constant gear changing for the 3.46 in my 5-speed 5-6 years ago, and swapped it out with 3.07 like yours..
3.46 is very common and easy to source and prob best bang for your 6-speed.. but short gearing isnt everything and all if it intrudes into your driving habbits.
