View Full Version : Let's call it AA's "RENEGADE" kit upgrade..

Well, it's been awhile but finally I thought I'd share the upgrade kit that AA have been working on. As most of you know I am always looking to perfect a kit and push the boundaries and happy to share info and help out where I can. I have been running a 115mm crank pulley for some time now 9mths with no issues so with the help of the boys at AA we were able to come up with an upgrade which is inline with their bigger blower option that I am hoping will be here shortly and available for all.

The kit has a 50% bigger intercooler, bigger meth pump and line, bigger injectors, 115mm crank pulley, bigger fuel line another inline pump reg, etc so forth and so on. I have chosen to go this route as the standard pump runs out around 460whp on my dyno and I wanted to make the fuel system was rock solid and could handle any future upgrades like 16-20+psi boost(new blower) or a 200shot. This upgrade is still using the 81trim(circa 12psi) for the interim until the bigger blower is available.

I also have a built motor now, not that this is an issue for guys who haven't but after last year lifting the head at 570+ I thought why not just build it and be done with it. I am running 10.5:1 so nothing crazy.

Here is a pic of bigger intercooler and parts for install and I hope to be on the dyno end of the week. Rumor has it AA are seeing over/ or right on 500rwhp on their dyno.:)

Very proud to see an Aussie amongst the Americans in boosted M3s.

What rwhp are you shooting for without the juice?

What rwhp are you shooting for without the juice? To be honest, I'm not sure what the result will be being that our dyno's are so different. I was making 490rw on pump/meth and now since I have had the rebuild 456rw which doesn't suprise me given lower compression and old tune. I want 540+ on my dyno and 650+ on the bottle but will need I reckon 16-20psi for those numbers.

You have my head spinning in circles Loren! :P

What are the dimensions of that intercooler? Although I don't know how much the kits cost cause AA doesn't want to release the price until next week, it seems that everything can be purchased outside of AA, minus the crank pulley, injectors, and tune, and being able to save some money. Maybe I'm wrong, but regardless, I'm looking forward to more power!

Hey Loren,

Mate it would be fantastic to go for a ride at some time and feel what the power delivery is like. As you know I am thinking seriously about FI.

Cheers.

Maybe I'm wrong, but regardless, I'm looking forward to more power! You can do your own fuel system for sure, but I'm not sure your going to save alot. The intercooler(50%bigger)is a perfect fit and trust me there is no room left. Also what everyone misses is the time and money, oh and more time and more money that goes into testing everything to make it match just perfect. The intercooler took hours and hours to test in order to find the least pressure drop across the core etc. I have seen 18psi out of the blower and only end up with 9 at the manifold with a poor quality intercooler! Sorry I can't help on pricing but I'm sure AA will work it out shorlty.:)

I would guess different than ASA. While ASA's make great midrange torque, they run out of headroom even in larger blowers at a faster rate than rotrex, or similar blowers from other manufacturers.

I've got a few guesses at the new setup.

So does anybody know when AA is going to make this upgrade available. Also, will stock internals support this new blower, and will the new blower and intercooler work with the existing kit or will changes need to made to the plumbing.

This is great news though. I honestly have gotten bored with my setup now, but by no means can I afford a HPF system.

I see where you said it will be in excess of 500whp, but any idea how much over 500?

I have finished the install and the intercooler and parts are spot on and you will just replace old with the bigger new ones. Simple. I believe you guys will see an easy 550+ on your dyno's.

Seans car made 505 with the C38-81 trim, a fuel system upgrade, meth, 12.5 psi, and the enlarged intercooler, on AA's dyno. Figure 540 whp on a dynojet more or less.

Is the C38-81 trim the gen 3 level 2 blower?

i contacted AA yesterday last week asking about pricing and they said call back on Monday or Tuesday and they'd have a final figure .. I called yesterday and they said Jean knew and they'd have Jean call me back. Haven't heard from them yet.

I would just like to know what kind of price range we're talking about for this thing ... $1000-2000, $2000-3000, $3000-4000, etc., but they said they weren't sure.

The car's lookin great Loren!

I PM'd Jean today ... still no price and again we're waiting. Which I agree, is typical AA, just like with the last big "december upgrade" we heard about for so long that kept getting pushed to "next monday we'll let you all know, thanks for being so patient" kind of thing.

He said the info got put out a bit prematurely, and it will be put out late this week or possibly next week. He wouldn't give a price, but he did say it will be cheaper than the ASA upgrade, however much that cost I don't know.

Can't wait for the price, to see if I can actually afford this upgrade.

Information out early is my fault, sorry but just wanted to share and got a little excited:woot:. It's not straight forward and there are lots of bits for the fuel system. Hang in there guys they will have an answer for you soon.

Hey guys,

I wanted to update this thread. We have received quite a lot of interest in this upgrade.

Since its out there, i will explain our feelings and our current progress with this upgrade.

We did not have the intention of making this upgrade a production upgrade and or release it to the market. We originally started tampering with the idea to satisfy a few people (ummm... Saintly ).

This kit will include a fuel system upgrade, larger intercooler, crank pulley, software and currently requires a methanol kit.

We are currently testing the upgraded hardware on a few cars:

One over sea's in Australia - Saintly
A car local to us in Orlando
The One Lap of America car
Also one of our shop cars

More info and details will be posted after One Lap of America.

The hardware and additional power is currently performing very well on and off the track so we are very happy with it so far. As you all know it has made 505 rwhp on our Mustang Dyno, Dyno Jet numbers will soon follow.

*The way the current kit upgrade is structured it is definitely not a DIY upgrade*

Bring on the new charger dude.. we are all waiting wide eyed and bushy tailed :)

Yup also had a chat to Jean yesterday.... the kit will be a combo of the larger intercooler that Loren has, plus bigger fuel pump, bigger injectors, pure meth kit (no alchohol/water) new software and some other bits and pieces and of course the new HKS blower.. sat till way tool late last night reading about the blower. Basically it looks similar to our old blowers except that the bearing design is new giving it a much higher speed and lower resistance. It gives slightly more power but much higher low down torque and can handle more than the current blowers... also you CAN run your current blower on a 115 trim (like Loren) but then this is TOTALLY at your own risk as you are overdriving the charger and it can and probably will go pop (although by AA's LOA car and Lorens are still fine)

They are still twidling software and checking bits and pieces but it's out there and it's coming... woot woot!!!

You will only over spin your blower for a second or two, and thats only if you are redlining it. Unless you track your car, you wont be in the high rpm range much at all. I normally shift at 7.5k anyways.
