I'm in the process of supercharging my 330. As I was disassembling some parts today I noticed that my MAF had some strange damage to the back side plastic (whatever this part of it does) on the side nearest the throttle body. Take a look at the pics. I don't want to push any boost through this since it's already hanging by a thread and I certainly don't want any plastic bits breaking off and getting sucked into the engine.

Can I just break this off and will the car run okay, or should I order a new MAF? Also, if I can't do without this piece, is it possible to replace just this plastic thing without having to buy a whole new MAF?

Most people remove it anyway. The one on the front is the one to be concern with so it's no big deal. however you might want to plan for a MAF in the future soon if money is an issue getting one now.
