Yea they didn't have anything better to do. Seems like Bloomberg has the cops on a ticketing spree. They couldn't find anything else to ticket me on. My cousin is a cop and he says I have a good chance of fighting it b/c technically they are supposed to have a meter to read the noise level. Theres stock cars that sound louder than my car. If it was just a ticket I could pay off I would, but I have to go to of all places criminal court for this. Such a headache. Haha and if they think this is loud wait til they hear my new exhaust setup. ;)

It's considered "noise pollution"...same as if you were slamming your stereo at 150 db.
Get an AA exhaust, they are really quiet driving around and open up wonderfully when you nail the throttle!

Being a cop, couldn't your cousin have that ticket waved?

HERE IN CALIF. THEY DONT USE ANY TYPE OF METER TO CHECK IT, BASICALLY IF ITS MODIFIED TO INCREASE OR AMPLIFY NOISE, ITS A VIOLATION. JUST REMEMBER IT GIVES THE POLICE A REASON TO STOP YOU, HOWEVER THEY DONT HAVE TO CITE YOU. ITS ALL ABOUT ATTITUDE!

Dre,
You can definitely fight it. Just informe the judge due to the raised man holes and pot holes in the city, it created a hole in your exhaust which you recently fixed. Make sure that you have a receipt stating repair welding done on exhaust. Did they also use a decible meter? As an added percaution, ask Mike at UP if he has any extra Greddy certificates stating their exhaust are 50 state legal....I know they would include it wit their exhaust.

yeah..in SAN FRAN, my friend has been pulled over by cops because of their exhaust. It's loud, that's why he caught the cops attention. So first thing they really did was, to check if the exhaust/muffler is illegal. If it's legal, they will probably tell you to put on a silencer. If it's illegal, they give you a fix it ticket which is like 10 dollars. But you'll have to change it and let them see it. It's a hassle.

Yea he tried, but it's up at the descretion of the supervisor of that precinct to throw it out. He was a a$$hole himself and didn't want to do anything about it. Either way I have a receipt from a exhaust shop saying they repaired a crack on the exhaust and its fixed and meets noise and emissions. I'm pretty sure the B&B is 50 state legal for emissions but I think it will vary from state to if it meets acceptable noise levels.

An officer told me that ANY modifications done that make the car louder than stock is considered a valid "Equipment Violation."
He only wrote "excessive noise" as a description of the incident. Which kind of confirms the statment that the actual loudness is only gives cause for the stop.
They can cite you for headers, modded cats, and cat-back mufflers all as seperate violations.
