Finally got some days off to enjoy the fitting of my VT kit at Simpsons Motorsports

Also took the time to enjoy the various beasts in the shop.....

Check out the resident F40. One careful italian owver who races it almost every year

But this has got to be my favorite.....GTR ala simpsons motorsports.
Runs on a Motec system and is fully race specced to produce 410bhp without FI :4ngie:

Finally, we managed to tune my car on the DynoDynamics (which is not for the feint hearted).

Only managed 400 bhp (to wheels) at ambient temp of 21 deg
There is around 5psi of boost presently, but i`m going to let adaptation take place for the next few hundred miles and test it on the dyno again.
Bear in mind that this is the DD dyno which reads much lower than dynoJets.
Ahead of me on the rollers was a CSL with SS pipes and a new 335i.
The 335i (unmapped) pulled 312 bhp to the wheels........:censor:

Anyway , the differences are quite noticeable. My car pulls so much more in the higher rev range and the induction note is so much more meatier :woot:

I can`t wait for stage 2-3 now..........Come on AJ, summer is nearly over;)

I`ve spent too long looking at those floor tiles.

I found my 450 kit much more noticeable in the last 2-2.5K rpm, looking back at in car videos at the `ring, you can really hear the engine note change as it heads towards the limiter.

It took me almost a year of nagging, to get the cooled intake made for stage 3. So there`s your target. :P I took mine out tonight for its 1st proper drive since bringing it home a fortnight back and it genuinely shocked me at how fast it is (not as much as the 2 lads in a VXR `tho, who`s eyes were almost popping out when I slowed down).

Mike, How much psi were you running on the 460 kit?

Also a little bird told me that the manifold design has been finalised and should not be too long :woot:

I was seeing a peak recall of 6 regulalry and a max of 6.4 once.

400 to the wheels eh? With a 440 kit... I don't think so.

Hey Max, great pictures! congratulations on getting boosted again - as I can read you need to hide even more from your wife... ;o) once the powerbug sets in it never let's off!
Keep posting!
Best,
Kevin

My mistake. Its 400 at the flywheel of course.

I need my PLX gauges now and Intrax suspension to make things sweeter....

Congrats on the setup. Quite a few of these sold recently. The Stage II should be incredible.

what was you running at the fly before the kit went on as 400 fly doesnt seem much of an increase for 5 psi or is that the DD?
Hope you dont mind me asking

No idea what the car was pushing out NA unfortunately. Ant said that he was hoping for 410 on the DD but that after letting the car run in for a few hundred miles we would have to dyno it again. Also have to check psi again .Did you dyno your on the DD as well?

I dont have a s/c mate (i wish but am looking into it currently) and am only n/a but pretty maxed out with all the mods you can do.. I did do a Dyno at AMD when they fitted the full Milltek and re-mapped it ages ago. Dont know if theirs was a DD though and if I remember was 32x before and 34x after. I did have a dyno run booked at thorneys a couple of years ago when I got the 100cell cats and John was going to do his stage 2 map and geo set up but there was an issue with the DD dyno as his new place was just open in MK at that time. I was a bit gutted as was on my way to the Ring at the time....that reminds me, he still owes me a Dyno for that LOL.
Look forward to seeing your progress like I have with Mikes as theres not many in the UK currently and only really CA doing Active & ESS along with Simpsons. Shame as they are a fair way away for me.
I am on Mtorque also under the same name. Are you??

Andy,
the dyno issue is still hotly debated:blah: Most of the cars when dynoed on DD struggle to make dynojet projected figures. There are so many factors at play that its just too complicated for me...:banghead:
What i did witness last week was how ambient temp readings during a run makes a heck of a difference. Glendog74 ( a csl owner) was having his car dynoed with a stage one remap and supersprint race exhaust. TMS dynoed 380bhp on their DD. Last week , the same car did 364bhp on SMP DD:facepalm:
By just placing the ambient temp sensor in the intake box and not the engine bay, there was an increase of 20bhp.... My feeling is the DD in SMP is very accurate and is also able to compute up to date weather information to factor in the dyno runs (so anthony says..)
I`m not on Mtorque mate as its too damn difficult to sign up...:hi:
In reality, i can keep machining the pulley until i hit "appropriate" bhp figures on the DD........:4ngie:

(PS : i`ve got miltek 100cel plus full supersprint race and resonated center section)

Can you please post your dyno sheet? What were the actual whp and tq figures? I think people are more interested in that than flywheel/crank numbers.
