thinking about upgrading tires. running piolit sport 265/35/19 on rear and i have no traction. pretty sure my back wheels are either 9.5 or 10" wide. is going to a 285 going to make much difference? can i go bigger? what is the best tire to run? looking for some opinions thanks guys.

some wheel offsets allow a 285 and some only allow a 275. my wheels will only allow for a 275, however i think scott has wheels that allow a 285. to my knowledge any wider would require some fender work and/or widebody. I run f1 asymetrics and they seem better than my pilot sports were. Nitto makes a good one from what i hear nt-05 or somethin like that.

Rob's HPF stage 3 is running the NT05's and hooking up pretty good with those. I am not exactly sure of the size, but think he is running 275/30/19. You'd have to ask him, but he really likes them. I have a set of 295/35/18 BFG DR's on a set of 18x10 TR-MT1's that just barely clear. They actually measure out to be closer to a 305. BUT......my fenders are rolled and slightly pulled. :shhh:

I am running 275 NT05's and they are decent, not much is going to grab with that much power...

How do they handle in the wet?

Horrible honestly. They hydroplane like its nobody's business! Not a fan of these in the wet at all, but I bought them figureing they wouldn't be great...

Thanks for the quick response. That's not going to cut it here in Hawaii where it rains everyday. I wonder if the Bridgestone RE-11's would be good for HPF cars in the wet?

I run the NT-05s and honestly I think they're awesome in the wet :dunno: They're tread pattern obviously isn't the best for handling puddles that would cause hydroplaning, but on regular wet streets I've been more than impressed with them.

I am going to run some 17x10 HRE 540s on the rear with 295/45/17 MT ETs (after some severe fending mods), all the drag racers rave that the Mickey Thompsons are worlds above the Nittos :dunno:

yea, agree with that. but have also heard that the BFG's were close to the MT's, that's why I am running those. MT doesn't have a nice sized 18" tire. I may try the 265 and use the 10" rim to stretch it because the 305 probably will not fit.

With the Proper wheel offset and back spacing you are able to fit a 295 in the rear of a M3 with no fender mods. I believe i did this set up for our HPF Vert Customer Samir in MD. His car was outfitted with Work wheels and was running 19x11 in the rear. I highly recommend running the NT05 myself, Nitto Invo's have worked well also. Rob is also now outfitted with those same Nito Invo's just wait till you see the wheels we had built for his car once it is finished at the paint shop.

I just placed an order last night for some NT05's - 275 30 19's for the rear. I am thinking of running 255 30 19 PS2's in the front - any reasons not to???

I am running 285/30/19 michelin ps2's and they are ok. When using pump and meth I can still spin 3rd.

I too am gonna try the nitto nt-05's but gonna go 275 / 35 / 19 instead of the 30 everyone else is trying. Hopefully the little extra sidewall helps especially off the line. I am willing to be the guinea pig, just need to kill the remaining tread left on the ps2's.

I was also gonna run a 255 front but a 35 series as well. I think 255/35/19 front is closer to stock diameter and the extra sidewall doesnt hurt either to protect the wheels. I was thinking of trying the goodyear f1 asymetricals, or maybe even going crazy and trying the new Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 or the Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08

I have downsized to 18's to run a 35 series tire. More sidewall is the key to traction. I will report on the Nitto Invo's when I get the car back.

Just wanted to let you know that I got 295/45/17 MT ET Streets to fit on a pair of 17x10 SSR Comps with a 5 mm spacer. Going to roll the fender slightly just for a bit more clearance.

let some air out of your rear tires... spin'em while the light is still red.... get them warm and ready for the green

I have very little idea what i'm talkin about... i am a little grasshopper.

I have 295 Nitto Invo's, Pretty awesome I like them, I did not roll my fenders at all however, But still have room, Just Perfect offset, I think I could get 305's on there and I know I could If I rolled the fenders a little

What size wheel and sidewalls are you running?
Are you rolling on stock 18's?
Thanks.

Are you rolling on 18's, and if so, then what size (f/r) and offsets, if possible.
Thanks.:)

it seems like if you own an HPF kit, then the tire for you is the nitto XXX

i myself just bought a pair of NT05's and they still spin... BUT far less than my old style tires.
just curious , what are you guys paying for a 275/30/19 nitto nt05 tire?

That is exactly what I just installed on my ride, and as you stated, I am still experiencing severe wheel spin...

I paid $550 for two tires.

A 30 sidewall isnt going to do you any good, that is like a rubberband on there..........
