It was only a matter of time.

Today while testing I finally dipped into the 11s with nitrous.

Details to follow.

Very nice Scott!

Now only if the HPF M3 would stop being babies and put there car's on a track and see if they can get 10's.

CONGRATS! You mofo, you deserve it... even though i wanted to do this first

This is absolutely epic, I don't think most people understand the importance of this.

Thanks.

The HPF cars are monsters....look at RaceMX-M3's Vbox run. That kind of power at the drag strip can be very hard on the drivetrain, I don't blame them for being cautious.

Who's Scott?

Thanks! I really appreciate that, especially from you.

To put this in perspective, the first E46 in the 11s had 525rwhp, (JMWeb's E46 M3) the 2nd E46 had a bit more (TazaM3's E46 M3). The HPF cars running in the 11s are all over 600 rwhp.

It's been a ton of work, but over all a great learning experience. The true potential of the car is still an unknown quantity. The "tune" can still get a bit better as you'll see shortly, and the driver can certainly improve as well.

I think that the $1000 is for the first 10 second pass by an HPF car. My money is on Robert to be the first.

I went with a brand new pair of OEM halfshafts to carry me over until the end of the season. After consulting with a LOT of people on the topic, the consensus was that the halfshafts were simply worn out after 80k miles of abuse. (I wasn't easy on the car during that time) I'll be working with a driveshaft company to develop a 1000rhwp halfshaft solution shortly.

+1

You need slicks to be worried. :P

Looking at the "M" halfshafts, I think that the non-M pieces that I have are more robust.

Oh yeah, but I don't think it was only to HPF cars, I think it was any E46. Either way, I expect when you start upping the nitrous jetting you'll be closer than most of the HPF guys.

This was on a 90 shot.

There's definitely some room for driver improvement, and more nitrous activation tuning. (Was working on this today)

Tomorrow I'm changing to "drag racing springs", and leaving the nitrous at the shop. I need to focus on driving consistently, and launching off the 2-step.

Can anyone spot the anomaly in 1rst gear?

BimmerDude18
07-18-2009, 09:38 PM
I assume you don't mean the bog. Looks like the RPM's go down near the top of first.

Was something slipping (clutch or tires?) through first gear and it grabbed near the top?

The slicks started spinning. :str8pimpi

I've got the car back at my shop, and I'm swapping to "drag springs" in the morning before heading back to the track.

On an interesting note, analysis of all the data logged shows 2 gears in 3 seconds flat, and a 0-60 of 3.3 seconds. No wonder the video camera is moving around....

What caused the lean condition near the top of 2nd?

And that's impressive to spin slicks on an NA 3.0L with a 90 shot

113.61!!!!!!! David pass your trap speed crown on over. The trap speed nonM crown is now held with nitrous. All hail the expansionist king as he conquers more land; first it was ET, now this. And from the looks of things, this isnt the end, I'd like to see an ESS TS3 high boost car get in on this. Coming this winter, I promise e46nonM drag tests... and I promise there'll be slicks here, maybe broken diffs, transmissions, etc.

There is a lot more to come, we're literally just getting started with running nitrous at the track. I think I have a grand total of 6 passes down the 1/4 now with nitrous.

I can't wait to see this thing with what he has planned for the nitrous system :yikes:

The new system is just finishing being machined....I should be ready to show something in a couple of weeks.

I'm confident I'll get into the 10s...it's just going to take some time to do it right.

Quite an achievement! Congratulations Adam!

Thank you. It's very nice to have the achievement recognized with such enthusiasm.

Update from today: No nitrous runs, and the air was crap. (Really hot and humid)

I made a total of 4 passes, making it through a couple of rounds of bracket racing before a .467 red light put me on the trailer. (Ran a perfect pass though....12.957 on a 12.95 dial in) That will teach me to play with the clutch engagement point without using the line lock....anyway, had a great day and I'm getting a lot more comfortable driving the car.

Tomorrow I'll be changing the springs and getting the nitrous bottles filled in preparation for a test and tune session on Tuesday.

Yeah...I know....3 sessions at the track in 4 days. I've picked up a bad habit. :craig:

I really need a VBOX to substantiate that...I'm simply using the data and the timeslip from the track plugged into a drag racing program that shows a number of stats at 10 ft intervals.

sorry about the very brief threadjack.... but i have these bushings uninstalled, brand new (the diff bushings were briefly installed) for sale.
Turner subframe and nonM diff bushings in billet aluminum

The aluminum bushings and the kaaz do make a ruckus, but I don't have any sound deadning or backseats.

Returning to the topic, PEI, once again congrats on your achievements based on the very carefully thought out plan which can be labeled none less than a staggering work of genius. I can't wait to see your new results.
