Everything else you drive seems so slow. I bought a E55 this week for a daily driver - don't get me wrong the car is bad a$$, seats give you a massage while you drive ftw. I tried the E350 (nope) E550 (uh, no) E55 - uh.. if this is good as it gets? :tsk: Seriously the car is very nice and will make a first class DD. :) The people that sell these things think they're SO FAST -

a 90K+ car for 30k, not bad. :)

do a tune and pulley upgrade on the e55. its fairly cheap and provides nice gains!

At 12-14 mpg not sure if that is going to be a great daily driver. The car is pretty fast for what it is.

Install a Hyevon 180MM Pulley, Tune, Hyevon Longtubes and an 80 or 82MM throttle body, FMIC and methanol. Thats what I call a Fast E55

Scott:

So true brother. The AMG's are great DD's. I absolutely love mine as well, however, really pales in comparison to the HPF.

LET Motorsports (http://www.letmotorsports.com/Contact_Us.asp) makes a very nice pulley/tune/exhaust/intake package for our cars. Call Jerry @ LET and tell him that Lawrence referred you to him. He will hook you up.

Nice ride BTW.

Not sure why you'd think about getting a DD that even compares - sort of a self defeating purpose, no? I think the one you picked up, or others referenced would suffice. Anything else would be time to go get the "M" out of the garage.

Beautiful car BTW!!!

how'd you get such an awesome price on it? Great car but nothing will compare to a HPF M3!

How does it compare to the M5?

The M5 is definitely more focused on performance, i.e. handles better, suspension is stiffer, and is faster than the E55 - although the E55 has a lot more torque, especially low end. The E55 is more of a "luxury" car that still hauls a$$. Ride is more civil, more attention to interior appearance and amenities.

Couple of reasons, I'm planning to keep the M3 forever and don't want to rack miles commuting to work in traffic where I can't enjoy it anyway. Also I pick up my 17 month old daughter from school a couple of days a week and hate putting her car seat in my M3, even tho it is a Recaro. :) Plus I take clients out occasionally and my 285's rub the fenders is anyone gets in the back seat. lol.

I has 60k miles and is out of warranty, look around and you'll see others comparably priced.

that Recaro baby seat is great though isnt it. sometimes i think my 2 year old son is safer in that seat than i am in mine. The way those head and side bolsters are designed he sure does look nice and snug in it.
Thanks for the reply, i was just curious if it was the drivability or the gas mileage, or something. I will also be keeping this car forever.

I am keeping my car forever as well. Look like many of the HPF M3 owner will keep their car forever. :)

Seem similar to the high hp supras -- guys either hold on to them forever, or they get passed around every 6 months like the town pump (tank's old m3 comes to mind)

That is why you pick up a nice 95 M3 and sit around 500whp to rack up those miles.....:4ngie:

Pulley, ECU Tune, Throttle Bodies, Johnson CM30 IC Pump and Heat Exchanger (more consistent power and no supercharger shutoff due to inadequate cooling) and you have one of the best 4 door monsters ever. The E55 and E60 M5 are 2 of the best 4 door cars ever to be made IMHO. Check out a video of this modded E55 doing 20-117mph:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UV-drd9fag

Mods were:

VRP Sport Airfilters
VRP Overdrive Crank Pulley
VRP ECU tune
VRP 80mm Throttle Body Kit
VRP Cat-back Exhaust
VRP Long Tube Headers
VRP Cooling Upgrade Kit
VRP Race Cams

Car also did 11.05 in the 1/4 mile so it's more than moving.

In terms of tuning look at: LET Motorsports/Eurocharged, VRP Tuning, Hyevon Motors and of course there is Kleemann and Renntech. Best bet is to get a 172,175 or 180mm pulley, tune and the cooling mods such as heat exchanger and CM30 intercooler pump. E55s with those mods layed down 440rwhp and over 500rwtq with those mods.

Depreciation bro, you can get decent E55 for mid 30s now, I've seen E60 M5s for low to mid 40s. Depreciation...everyone's best friend.:pimpin:

that E is badass...you're just spoiled from driving a goddamn MONSTER around all the time. Give it some time and a few minor upgrades and you'll get used to regular people power again!

You've got quite an impressive stable now, always loved the e55, may have to put that on my list of potential cars to get after I sell the M.

I have the exact same problem. I dropped off my HPF Stg2 for an oil change and new tires on Friday and drove my winter car (08 GTI) and it was just so slow... it was painful. Went to the Benz dealer and ordered a 2010 C63 to replace her today. Should arrive by the time the M3 goes into storage.

Congrats on the new whip bro!

PS If you want to change the whole 'every thing else seems so slow' problem, you can just sign that title over to Adam DiFilippo. Tell you what, I'll even pay for shipping to Boston 'cause I'm such a nice guy ;)
