Do you think you may hold the highest e46 mileage for the supercharger or turbo?

How many miles have you put on the turbo or supercharger since install (excluding the miles the car was driven before your installation date) ?

Ex: you had 60,000 miles then installed supercharger / turbo and drove another 55,000 miles.

What's been your real world experience since install.

Would you install it again on another e46 or would you go another route or just leave it stock?

Is your car a legit daily driver?

Any advice or nagging concerns issues worth sharing about your e46 turbo or supercharger ownership experience?

Lastly; judging by your butt-seat was it worth the money and or hassle?

Thanks:hi:

bump, I would like to know as well.
I'm deciding between supercharging my 325ci (45K miles) or trading in for M3

maybe..prob not..

put on my ESS tx asas blower at about 120k miles..had the car until 160k when it was taken from me.. prob had about another 10k-20 before servicing the clutch in the ASA blower...

Its a blast..driving technique changes...right foot always primed for bo0st..! and left foot for the bypass noise!!

I loved it SO much when my car was taken from me, I found another e46 with another ASA blower..

Is your car a legit daily driver?
yes last car 40 miles per day.. now only about 10...

Any advice or nagging concerns issues worth sharing about your e46 turbo or supercharger ownership experience?
Boost is addicting.. your gonna want more of it..and more power returns from headers..and other components...just get the blower a forget the rest..no need to make your civilian car to a race car and lose the civility for slight power gains you achieve after the supercharger kit. The kit is all you need unless you want a race car most stage 2 doesnt require you remove cats on the non ms....and find the right installer recommended by your kit maker..80% of problems during post install comes down to cheap faulty installs..go to the best.

find a right clutch and flywheel..stock is fine.. but when going to performance stuff like lightened flywheel..make sure you dont go too light in FI applications..

Not just for Naturally Aspirated BMWs
Turbocharged and supercharged vehicles can also benefit from an aluminum lightweight flywheel. Turbocharged engines that have to build boost due to turbo "lag" are now finding the ability to transfer power sooner with the decrease in rotational weight. Our E46 M3 F/I clutch kit uses a single mass flywheel, but is heavier than our standard version so that the RPMs do not drop too quickly, affecting driveability.

this drivablilty problem really can be solved with slight change in driving mechanics in certain situations..but anyone else driving your car will stall it sometimes from cruising and dropping into neutral in certain lowspeed conditions.

Lastly; judging by your butt-seat was it worth the money and or hassle?
Yes it was well worth it. Pulling away from just one 350z in my 330ci back then made it well worth it.

not one problems from both the ESS kit and technik kit..

my thread if you want a feel my build ..

My kit went on at ~160k miles, and I now have ~210k miles.

I'd do it all over again for sure. I go to school in Orlando, but live in Miami, and make the trip countless times per year... You should make a trip down to AA, let me know if you decide to go and I'll give you a ride in my car :hi:

I have almost 30k on my AA TS kit (no longer available). Installed at 63k and now have about 90k. I haven't had any major issues besides a blown hose from the bypass valve and some intermittent SES light issues. Nothing related to a defective kit or anything.

There's more maintenance involved. You have to change the compressor oil and coolant once a year. I also keep a close eye on the belts, tensioner pulley, and rear subframe.

The car is a blast to drive and I do drive it 4 days a week. I would say that it makes the car more drivable. The extra power and low end torque from the TS reduces the number of times you need to shift.

I waited until my car was past its warranty. And I wouldn't have done this if this was my only/primary car.

At about 8k miles on my setup, I absolutely love the turbo kit. Furthermore, I love the way Technique Tuning handles the little things. During installation, I prototyped a mounting method for the intercooler, he gave me step by step directions of how to handle it. Nick can only be said to be the best customer support ever. One clamp didn't come with the original shipment, it was with me the next day.

I have the TS2 kit for almost 2 years, put around 50000 miles, never had an issue with it. The only thing that changed for me is the engine belt change interval which I do it every 20000 miles

^i do agree you do become an expert in changing the accessory belt..Ive gone through a few myself..but it was due to water pump or of other nature in my case..but either ways, hopefully by the time you go fi you should already know your new belt size and be able to change it out yourself in less than 15 minutes( if you have a electric fan that is..um on your non m)

Why wouldn't you do it on your only vehicle? I use a 330Ci as my only vehicle and I've been considering FI.

I have a asa technik s/c and i've had it about 15k miles over the course of a year and a half and it has been drop dead reliable for daily driving / m3 scaring :4ngie: never had any install issue's, no limp mode, no overheating, no odd idling, not a single headache on my part. drives like oem but with a serious slap to the face grin everytime boost kicks in.

ESS TS2. Installed at 30,000 miles. Now at 77,000 miles. Would definitely do it over again. This is my daily driver 40 miles a day and goes everywhere on the weekends.

The only problems I've had with the kit is the cold start issues which is really not bad at all, and a broken belt tensioner, which may or may not be related to the supercharger.

So far, not really much more maintenance than I would normally do. Just recently changed the coolant for the air/water intercooler and will probably change the compressor oil soon. Other than that, no extra maintenance.

that's actually a good question what are the recommended intervals for compressor oil changes? 50k? or 25k? i know someone who had theirs done at the 25k mark but i don't think i'd go past that honestly...

I bought a bottle of Castrol 10W60 (M3 engine oil) and change the TS oil every 30k. Next month will be 2 years with the TS2 :)
