what do you guys think of debaging your bimmer? Have a lot of you done it? Do you think it improves the look of the car? It is obviously just preference but im wondering what you guys think.

i even debadged my hood ans shaved the trunk!!!!

i say go with the debadge!!! Over here in europe its the way we do it, you dont have to go overboard like me but it does look cleaner without the 323, 325, Ci etc on it....

P.S. if i had an ///M3 i would debadge aswell...

I say go with what you think is best in your eyes...

This is one of the biggggest :repost:'s in history. You really should :search: ... but since you might be a newbie, no harm done :) .

Debadging is the "thang to do". Not only does it clear up the look of the car, it makes it easier to wax, makes people wonder what your car is, and is the easiest mod ever. Easier than cleaning your car. I debadged someone on this board's car in like 5 minutes with strings off a graduation cap. :lmao: good times!

Anyways, DO IT. It's super sweet, and most people on this board debadge. I like the symmetrical look on my ride:

BTW: Phatbimma... your car is phat. and it's a bimma. Phatbimma..

hey no problem buddy, we all do it sometimes. You are still in the "newb" category, and even if you weren't, nobody here is really hostile at all about it.

You're ok in my book. lol.

Something else to think about: in the European markets, you can order your car without the badges installed.

It's very common over there, especially on the higher-model cars... makes them less of a target for theft. A thief won't show special interest in a 330i if he thinks it is a 316d worth about half as much.

This is something that I never really uderstood for guys with 330's. If you have a 325 or something then I say go for it but if you have a 330 then why debadge? I'd rather people see my car and be able to identify what model it is. :D

there are so many threads out there about this. I say debadge, I love the clean look in the rear, if I had an M3, I would debadge also. I find it funny how guys with 323/325's debadge, and get ranted on by some of the 328/330 guys because they claim that they are trying to hide their smaller engines, but yet, I don't see anyone give any 328/330 owner sh!t for debadging his or her car. what, is it so hard to believe that the 323/325 guys just like the cleaner look better. some of u higher model bimmer guys need to get over urselves. I'm sick of the arguments that arise from these topics. I'm sure that the 323/325 guys aren't in shame to be driving their cars, and sure as hell shouldn't be looked down upon by other bmw owners because they didn't get a 328 or 330 at the time.

I guess your implicit assumption is that people debadge to hide their lower-end-model, not for the cleanness and symmetry debadging offers. :banghead:
I debadged my car the day I got it, just because I think it is really weird to have a badge on one side of the trunk. Recently I got a DINAN3 badge, and I put that, too, under the hood instead of on the trunk (as far as cleanness is concerned, ANY badge is going to screw it up). As far as other people are concerned, if they know enough about 330/325 models, they will be able to tell the difference without a badge.

Debadge your bimmer and it's going to look quite typically like an older honda accord.

I want to keep my badge, that way by after i'm done modding, and i'm toasting 330's, they'll bang their heads on their steering wheels as they see 323i flashign them the hazzards.

I think the only guys or chicks that debadge are the ones with the pint size models. I see a lot of dudes driving around with a 323 want to be a 330 that is debadged. Its pretty simple to spot these ****ers out. Checkout the phuny exhaust tail pipe......give me a break!

I agree that the badge on the back of my black 330CI kind of breaks the line of my car when it is silver.

So I kind of went halfway. I removed the badge and painted it the same color as my car body.

I think that it still smooths out the line but keeping the badge.

That is a pretty arrogant assumption, I should say! and what are you going to call the 330s which are debadged, wannabe M3s? Why do people find the simple reason for debadging -- namely cleanness and symmetry -- so unbelievable? It is not like debadging is changing the performance of the car.
I think these remarks are representative of the American "brand-name" culture. I wonder if anyone would buy the $100 nike shoes if they didn't have the swoosh on them! :banghead:

i debadged my 330 and i think it looks 10x better. i also had a custom black license plate frame made w/ 330Ci engraved in it in white. looks too imbalanced w/ the badge on one side plus it's too damn long

Ummm...it still says BMW. There's like one person here who has taken off the roundel. I don't get where your going with this. The badge simply states what series it is and model. So then why in Europe is this sooo common? But anyways, go for the debadging for the reasons above that are positive. Enough said :tsk:

Personally, I love my badge. I think the car looks great with it. Whether is be my 320i or 330xi. Its part of the car I think removing is takes away from the look of the car, its part of the car, part of its heritage.

I haven't done it, yet, though I've thought about it (even considered ordering it badge-free.) I have no ambitions towards hoping everyone will think it's a 330. Just debadging is so common here, that I want my car to fit in, tho the diplo plates are a givaway, but the paint is almost off them, so they're hard to see as well.

Gotta get the DRLs deactivated as well, of course. The dealer here said that they had to replace the whole light assembly though. Bunch of wankers.

I believe most of the guys from this forum who debadging is for the "look" reason.
on the other hand, many of those debadging car that I saw on the street is a different story. just my 2 cents

who cares what others think. its your car, if debadge pisses off 330i owners then i say DO IT!!! if small things like that piss off 330 owners then they seriously have problems. thats the problem with some people they spend to much time worrying about with others do. life will be a lot better if you don't let little things like this bother you.

i'm debaging putting a Hamann logo on.

Besides, I took off my emblem not because I wanted to pose as a 330i, but for something else.
For now, it gives it a clean look, but it'll soon be a Dinan 3 within the next year so I wanted to put that badge on instead.
Besides, the ACS badge will be on the left side once I get the ACS side skirts and rear bumper.

almost all of my family's cars are debaged..

be it E39 540i, E46 328i, E36 325is, E36 318is, MBZ E430, Supra TT or Tundra.

Only cars not debaged is 4runner Limited and 93 toyota pickup.

I think it looks a lot cleaner, but my dad doesnt agree (he was pissed when I debaged his 318is!!)

I am always tossed up about this issue.. i do agree that it looks alot cleaner.. but then I always like the fact that I got a 330.. I have no problems with anyone debaging .. to each their own.. etc..

I am probably going to leave it on thou.. but i definetly am going to take off the dealer badge once i'm out of warantee..

this whole 330 argument........come on.......its all about the look.....just because you have a higher model means ****.......i have found that people dont want "their high end models" to be confused with the "slower less expensive ones".....all i can say is be very scared of the "slow models" that are supercharged :).....you just might piss yourself.....haha
