here are the pictures as promised. You see how the clips anchor the end of the entire shade to the deck. It acts like a wedge to tighten the shade onto the deck. When I was installing mine I actually forgot to put the clips in the first time and the shade just kept falling thru the deck. If you have one clip then you can make it work by just using one clip to wedge and anchor and cutting the slit shorter by half a centimeter. To anchor the other end without a clip you can use glue or maybe a wood wedge or metal clip.
