Out of the OBDII tools you can use with a smartphone, which one would you recommend? I have an iPhone 5C. Thread doesn't seem to provide a clear winner.

jfoj..... read you post on a low fluid issue related to breaks - causing clutch not to engage?

The break fluid reservoir is divided with a vertical separator wall that makes the reservoir into a dual reservoir. There are 2 hoses connected to the bottom of the reservoir, brake & clutch. If the fluid level in the reservoir drops too much, the clutch side will not share any more fluid. This is a safety mechanism to keep as much fluid for the brake system because stopping is a bit more important than moving under most circumstances.

So the OP needs to see if his problem is due to a loss of fluid into the clutch side due to break pad wear and brake fluid level dropping.

I have had a pad warning light for weeks - & today the clutch failed - not engaging in ANY gears..... does the low fluid not enable the clutch to engage? I am getting conflicting info from other subs....

Hey. Your inbox seems to be full so I'm posting this here, I hope that is okay.

I am having a cylinder 6 misfire, I saw your guide out there but I'm a little lost about what step to take next to diagnose what is causing the misfire. I think my next step has to be a smoke test. Any chance you have a machine I can borrow/come by and use to do a smoke test? I am located in college park.. I could drive out to you, my parents live in Vienna actually. I would really appreciate it!

I am planning on doing my VANOS seal this weekend, and I was thinking that it would be a good time to change my spark plugs since that is a possible cause for this cylinder 6 misfiring but I am unsure if that will solve the problem.

I am also getting a p0441 (EVAP Purge System) code.. I think my first step would be to replace the purge valve? Does that sound right?

    Any tips would be appreciated!

Hello JFOJ is it possible for you to pm me with a scan tool link I can't seem to find the ones you've posted. I need to clear a code I got when my fuel pump died, which I repaired with your help btw, so thanx. I remember you writing about one I can use with my smart phone. Thank you

Definitely make a "DISA: Check In" thread like you did for the Thermostat. I'd definitely be one of the first ones to post when I tackle it next week, with GAS kit and new unit in hand.

Hello jfoj. I am hoping you can help me out. I've read/seen quite a few of your posts on this forum, and I'd like to get your opinion on my problem. My thread is called "Please Help - Whistle Sound from DISA at Certain RPMs and Loss of Power While", but I'm sure you can easily find it just by looking at my profile (This is my 1st thread). You seem to have quite a bit of knowledge and experience, and I'd like to get your opinion on my situation as well. Thank you in advance.

Very much appreciate your threads and, more importantly, your reservation in posting in all the USELESS threads that pop up. Well done my man!

Please take a look at my "fix" posted on "Critique of Dorman DISA" and comment on it. I need some reliable feedback on what I propose to do.
