Hey Bud;
sorry for late replay. Don't use this username much since becoming a sponsor. New sponsor username is: nachos23 @ carbon-effects.com (whole thing with spaces).
Best to email me @
wrapping@rogers.com as it goes to BB.
Basically, it involves getting an M3 SMG wheel, associated slip ring and patch cable (2 conductor; PC speaker connector).
Removal of wheel is well documented in forums. Once removed, swap slipring (after swapping signals and indicators) making sure NOT to turn slipring. After installation of the slipring, you connect the paddle shifter connector to the small 2 pin connector (top left of slipring). Re-attach steering wheel and top-side installation is done.
Now you need to remove steering wheel shaft cover (plastic piece) in order to run 2 connector wire from back of new slipring to centre 2 wires on Steptronic shifter connection. If you connect 2 wires backwards, then just reverse connection @ slipring. From the Steptronic (hall effect) sensors, there is a 4-pin connector. You need to TAP into centre 2 wires on that connector.
That's it; you're done. Very easy mod; great results. My car has 250,000km; maybe 250km have been driven in full Auto.
Email me @ email above if you have more questions.
Regards,
Bill
