what tint "percentage" do you guys rock?

i am told you can get away with lighter tint if you have black interior. i guess the standard is like 20%, my friend got 35% and i thought it looked pretty good, eddie from tirerack said he just got 22%, that sounds like my style...i honestly don't like limo-dark tint...this will be the 3rd mod i get and a pretty important one at that...thanks for your help!

I like invisible tint the best, so 70% for me, I'll have it all around, including windshield

I have a coupe so I have 5% on the back three windows and 20% on the side windows. For me that was perfect.

NickACS 06-20-2002 06:27 PM

5% on all sides and 20% rear :D

wolf328ci 06-20-2002 06:29 PM

5% all around

but I have a tan interior and live in miami where it is hot all the time.

i've always had 20's but on my 330 i went with 35's and they look alot darker than i had expected. I like them.

Craig 06-21-2002 10:04 AM

35% all around with a 20% strip on the top of the front windshield

Clem 06-21-2002 10:10 AM

7% rear, 17% sides and front windsheild strip

Staszek 06-21-2002 10:43 AM

Since the fronts are illegal in NJ, plus I didnt want it to dark anyway I just got 35% all the way around, I like it!

CTOM9 06-21-2002 10:45 AM

35% all around

TBT323 06-21-2002 11:04 AM

27% all around. I like it. But black interior makes it look darker than it actually is.

Let me get this straight

nn% equals the amount of light the tint allows in?

So the larger the % the lighter the tint?
or
the larger the % the darker the tint?

Somebody help me out here. I will be getting my windows tinted before long and would like to know the facts.

makonto 06-22-2002 10:41 PM

The darker, and shiny.....till cant see inside from outside...dat rock

BAVARIAN323i 06-22-2002 10:46 PM

your radar detector wont work as well with the tint film...not sure if that'd affect you

wkay 06-22-2002 11:49 PM

37% all around here in Arizona. Car sat out in 110 deg all day Friday and was actually quite bearable when I got into it. I do use the Covercraft UVS100 dash topper too. I dont care for the real dark windows (especially on white) so really looks nice with the lighter tint.
