How to remove wax from black trim
whats a good product that will remove
old wax on the textured black trim I have several cars that need the wax removed. please help thanks Frank |
I'm told that peanut oil is fantastic for this purpose. (You'll need to re-wax anything it gets on, of course.)
|
Pencil erasers, especially those big magic rub erasers or any pentel eraser. I've found that the normal pencil with pink eraser doesn't work as well as mechanical pencil erasers.
|
also try an old toothbrush.

Definitely, peanut butter. Erasers work as well, but they will wear out the trim over time.
|
q-tip!
|
Spray Armoall on the trim and wipe off with a rag that always works for me.

I had these annoying wax streaks on the balck plactic trim on my mirrors until I tried Griot's Rubber and Vinyl Dressing. To my surprise the black was BLACK! I guess Armor-All works the same, just with more corrosive additives.

The problem with using rubber dressings/sprays, is that it only hides the wax residue. Once the dressing/spray wears out, the residue will show again. Only way to completely remove is with peanut butter or eraser. After you do this, you can use the rubber dressing/spray.

2nd thread with same subject......give this a try http://www.urethanesupply.com/waxblaster.html
|
I looked at that waxblaster site - it costs way more to ship it than the product costs!
