Question regarding 19's...
4 Attachment(s)
Ok, so I got my tires today for my 19 inch Hartge classic replicas. I called around to have them put on and one guy told me that 19 was wayyy to big for a 325, he said my suspension would get wrecked. Is this true? I put the old rim/tires up next to the new ones and there was only a little less than an inch difference in the total diameter. I realize they are lower profile and hence less side wall flex, but can this really do damage to my suspension? Also, how far off will my speedometer be with this change, and is there a way to fix that? Thanks for any info anyone can throw my way. By the way, I can definitely feel a power difference. I'll post some pics (although they are with a crappy webcam, I need a real digital camera) -

off top of my head, only thing I can think of when wheels cause damage to the car is either you have the wrong offset, or you put wrong sized tires and end up rubbing the wheel wells. never heard that it'd break your suspension though. maybe he's referring to a harsher ride due to the lower tire profile and the larger diameter, that -could- potentially decrease the life of your shocks as well as cracking the subframe; but I doubt anyone here's experienced damage due to 19's.
for a 325 sedan, stick with 235/35/19 tires all around if you want to be safe. you could go a bit wider in the back if you choose to. |
maybe he was thinkin of fender rub where did u get ur rims from im gettign the SAME 1s but gonan gunmetal the spokes and leave the lip polished. i got the 330XI so i figured to be safe to 19X8.5s all the way aroudn i dont wanna roll my fenders

 new to the E46 fam. This is my second post. You all answered my questions regarding 19's. 'bmw330xi01' whats wrong with rolling fenders?

I think im going to lower the car a bit i have about inch and a half gap was looking into h&r cupkits, since alot of people go with that instead of just doing the springs, eventually the stock shocks will give out I'll just do everything at the same time correctly...
