I did it! Heated steering wheel on my 330

I posted quite some time ago last winter about the possibility of a heated steering wheel on the 3-series...seems that nobody has done it?!

Anyway, today I finished my DIY. It works great! I am excited for it to get even colder now so I can enjoy it

Anyone interested in a write up on how to do this? :dunno:

caMber156 11-12-2004 09:30 PM

I think he took the heated wheel off of an E39 and retrofitted the wiring into his E46.

Now that's cool. Let's see the write up. :)

Is there a reverse?
I'd like to have steering wheeler cooler!
I can stand the cold wheels, but not the hot wheels during Summer...
I'm sure cooler will be a lot harder to do than heater...

russ330 11-13-2004 12:10 AM

^throw a towel over it while it's parked.

yayopwr 11-13-2004 12:17 AM

Hella ghetto....If you had a sun screen you'd be fine. BMW should have this in the cold weather or sport package (heated and cooled wheels.)

shizat63 11-13-2004 12:36 AM

I won't be happy until my 6 speed shift knob is heated. And the turn signal, WTF didn't BMW think of this  Hurry up you lazy mofos, this better be an option on the E90

Yes... Heaven forbid something cheap, effective, and simple be associated with a BMW. Perhaps some Eskimo skinned driving gloves to protect your hands from the hot steering wheel. :dunno:
