RGRs or CSL Reps

I decided to move this thread to the General Forum since I figure it'd get more hits.

Hey guys I need your opinions. I'm trying to decide between 18 inch BBS RGRs or CSL reps? They would pretty much cost the same price with tires since some fanatic is selling his RGRs for a good price. (see thread below)

Which one should I go for? I like the CSL look but the RGRs look pretty good too and they're light and forged.

Either choice is a good one, but I'd recommend the RGR's. The question is, do you want 18" wheels, or 19" wheels?

I'm undecided on that too...haha.

I'd say go with the RGRs, it kinda looks like the CSLs but you get a lil' lip too. There are a lot of CSLs out there, so having the RGRs would stand out a bit.

I don't see how this is even a question. Why would you settle for less. Granted the CSL reps are good for the money, they're still no BBS, plus the RGR's look better... But that's personal opinion. Even if they weren't around the same price, which you claim they are, you should still get the RGR's over the CSL's if you have the $.

And no, I am not bashing rep wheels, I used to have them as some of you remember.

BBS hands down

bernstem 09-15-2005 03:53 PM

RGR - in diamond black, my favorite BBS wheel.

Jeff43 09-15-2005 04:10 PM

RGR - forged and about 5lbs lighter per wheel...

and they're good looking too...

doubleloseven 09-15-2005 04:57 PM

RGRs!

IGotId 09-15-2005 07:45 PM

depends on what size:

19" RG-R's > CSL's

CSL's > 18" RG-R's

MrMotorwerk 09-15-2005 07:47 PM

RGR- a no compromise decision

guest1016 09-15-2005 08:08 PM

the only cars i ever see with bbs rims are like early/mid 80's flat black spray painted vw's, and they are EVERYWHERE around here....with that being said, which ones do YOU like better?? your the one that's going to be looking at your car everyday, not us!!!!!

come on man! RGRs!!
18 RGR's > 19 CSL

dj_esuna 09-16-2005 02:40 AM

RGRs, baby, and dubs!!

kaotik 09-16-2005 10:22 AM

Thanks for the input guys. I really wanted to get the RGRs to begin with from a fellow fanatic but he only had one post and he's been posting the wheels for sale for more than a month. I started to wonder if it was leggit or not. Am I the only one that thinks $2000 shipped is a great deal for 18 inch RGRs with tires and they're only 2-3 months old? I'm really suprised no one has bought them in that period of time.

Not even comparable... On my old 330...

I'd say... go with the RGRs.
They are EXTREMELY strong (from personal experience) and pretty light.
Plus, BBS is a very trusted brand name here on the forums.

However, if you plan on getting a BBK later... if these wheels are your only 2 choices... go with the CSL reps. because the RGRs are notorious for horrible BBK clearance. Needed a 22mm spacer to fit a BBK under my wheels :omg: mainly due to BBS' aggressive offset.
Then again.. if you're looking at CSL reps instead of OEM CSL or ZCP wheels... then you're most likely not thinking about a BBK.

Here's a pic of the RGRs on my old 325i I used to have though:

Hands down go with the BBS RGR as they are forged. CSL reps are nice but just not in the same quality as BBS Rims.

You can get staggered setup in the RGR setup also.
RG-R 760 188.0 35 5/120.0 72.5 8.6kg
RG-R 762 189.0 45 5/120.0 72.5 8.8kg
RG-R 734 188.5 38 5/120.0 72.5 8.4kg

These rims are fairly light also compared to others.

I think I've made up my mind and will go for the RGRs. I found out why the guy might be selling them cheap (18x8.5 all around with tires for 2k, 2 months old). The tires on them are Sumimoto tires and I checked in Tirerack and they only cost $90/tire. I guess I'll upgrade the tires after I wear them out. But man my window regulator just broke on my way to work today and I was even taking my friends out and showing them what a BMW is like.....haha. Thanks for the pic gmhl10, it looks really good and made me want to get the wheels more.
