**kpeng's mini-livingroom transformation**
So I decided my living room needed a prettying up. This is what it looked like before:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...r/DSC04215.jpg As you can see, it's pretty terrible. Then I got ahold of some goodies: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...r/DSC04216.jpg With the help of sanman10535, bimmerdude18, and dmc, we began work on a new setup: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...r/DSC04221.jpg And now the finished product. A 6.1 surround sound system with a ~90 inch projection setup: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...r/DSC04226.jpg Just wanted to share my little one-night transformation of my living room. And now to clean the house up. Big thanks to sanman10535 for giving me a great deal on this setup and for helping me put it together! -Ken |
your screen is crooked :dunno:
|
I don't think it is. I think it's just the angle of the camera shot.

Awesome! how's the picture quality?
|
That looks a hell of a lot better! How much do projectors with the screens usually go for?
|
The picture quality is great! Even with the lights on, which is surprising. I'm not sure how much one of those screens go for, sanman10535 built it himself. But projectors are around $1000.

what are the two speakers on the right/left of the projector for? i see you have two floorstanding ones below it, so im confused. two for music, and two for a seperate ht perhaps?

u can watch tv on the screen or only movies? yes, i know its a dumb question :D
|
It's not visible, but on each side of the projector are two more satellite speakers, and underneath the counter is a 12" subwoofer.

Oh, they're just to get a more full sound coming from the front. The room is pretty big with a 10 ft. ceiling, so I wanted to get that effect of the sound coming from all over.

Everything is final yet (ie, the projector will have an actual mount and wires will be hidden. But for now we'll just enjoy our 96'' diagonal TV. Kpeng: hope you guys fix your broken PS2 or game.:P |
Nice Ken

We got Madden to work. It was pretty nice actually. The replays were life sized.
I definitely need to look into a stand for the projector, though, it shouldn't be too bad, I'm more worried about getting it shimmed (washers maybe?) and screwed the the stand. I'll cad something up before I make it so that I don't have to think about what cuts to make. And the screens not crooked, its the angle of the shot, its a little warped, we need to retighten it a hair, but its 98% perfect so I wasn't going to take it back down over a couple wrinkles. |
