the official MMA general discussion thread

all right. this thread is against my better judgment - because the pride fanboys will have their say

ufc 62 just wrapped up. highlights ...

(1) babalu gets his ass knocked out about a minute and a half in. so much for him being chuck's toughest test. the same m.o. with chuck - bell rings and he unleash a flurry of punches for a quick K.O.

(2) griffin beats bonnar in a close decision. all three rounds were close slugfests but it was clear that griffin came out on top in each. was a really good fight, but there was a lot of booing. which i cant figure out at all.

Azrael 08-26-2006 11:43 PM

He had a inflammed vagina.

AVRed1 08-26-2006 11:50 PM

Dam I wanted Chuck to win but not so easy. I hear the Vanderlai Silva fight is off too. And GSP is out for next month too... :(

vincentvega9701 08-26-2006 11:51 PM

^ meaning bj penn steps in. and gets his belt back :ee[s:

i'd MUCH rather see penn fight for the title, anyways

oh yeah, i saw this earlier on sherdog. chuck and babalu partying earlier this year

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...IMG_0901ms.jpg

i guess chuck's a boob man :pimpin:

Azrael 08-26-2006 11:51 PM

I can't believe or I guess I can believe that Tito & Shamrock will fight again. I'm just glad it's on spike & not a ppv.

And I liked when Tito told him to wait until December to get the gut off. :spit:

Did you see Babalu close his eyes and try to grapple John Mccarthy when he stopped it, guess he thought it was still Chuck. Tonight was comedy.

He obviously didn't watch any of Chuck's fights before this becuase that is the one thing you don't do against him.

Balljinder 08-27-2006 12:11 AM

Griffin/Bonnar was weak compared to their first fight.

Liddell/bablu was much more entertaining (especially when he tried ot fight Big John)

Anyone see the next fight? The canadian guy was out cold from that choke... talk about not giving up.

meh, i like babalu. he's now 17-2 in his last 19 fights. both losses coming from chuck.

the LHW division has problems now. tito'll get his title shot next, where he will get stomped by chuck yet again.

then who? forrest? he's clearly not ready.

dana's gonna have to crack open that checkbook. certainly they can outbid wfa for the japanese talent :dunno:

EDIT - i wanna see bisping fight on ppv. i think he could beat forrest :eeps:

flush01 08-27-2006 12:22 AM

chuck has no good opponents... they need to ship few from pride

budman 08-27-2006 02:05 AM

was it worth the money.. well.. I guess so. The main event was quick, but the others were entertaining.

 eh, i split the ppv charge w/ three guys so it was worth it.

undercard fights were really good. the lightweight fight, hermes hanging in there. that big ass french dude, kongo, he's pretty impressive.

bonnar v. griffin is a really solid stand up match - the only part of the night that pisses me off is the crowd booing. anyone who expected this rematch to go down exactly like the first fight is a moron.

common sense dictates that they would be slightly less wreckless, because the first time around, they had nothing to lose. where as this time, they're both rebounding from losses, so the loser of this fight has a LOT to lose. if that makes any sense.

:dunno:

oh yeah, nick diaz winning pissed me off. he was a last minute replacement. so now he's f*cking back in the ufc.

i hate that guy.

reminds me a lot of brad imes - he's got natural athleticism out the wazoo, just needs more fight experience :dunno:
