WTT: 2001 Mercedes-Benz CL600 - Also WTB specs

1st off in case anyone is interested in a trade.

The car is a black on black CL 600 - just hit 50k miles and just had service B done. The car mechanically is sound. The cars appearance is in near perfect shape. For an 01 its quite phenominal. V12 engine is amazing, the Rev band is so different then any other car.

The car doesn't have a salvage title but was a buyback from Benz from its 1st owner (I am the 3rd) I have had the car for over 6 months, and have not spent $1 on repairs. The previous owner did not spend anything on repairs.

The car just received BRAND NEW factory Pads/Rotors on the front, backs have 80+%. The front pads/rotors are over $475.

The tires have 85% tread conservatively.

The car has every available option from mercedes:

Heated Seats
Navigation
Xenons
Air conditioned Seats
Massaging Seats
Suede Roof
DTR (Distronic) BEST FEATURE The car brakes for you. Set the speed the car will slow down and speed up again all on its own. I will miss this feature more than you know. I never use the brake anymore, the car simply does it itself. It has a screen below the speedo that tells you how many feet the car is in front of you also.
Reverse parking sensor
Sunroof
The car also has the Brabus wheel package that came from Mercedes. Slotted rotors/ High polished wheels. To give you an idea this package alone is $4500

It also has the upgraded 03 LED tails.

Reason for trade: Simple I am an enthusiast. I don't keep cars longer then 6-9 months. There would be other things then an M3 I would trade for. I have already owned 2 Forced Induction C5 corvettes. Along with audis, 350zs, and numerous other cars.

I am not looking to pay any money really on a trade, so if you offer a trade be ballpark with my cars price.

The title doesn't show salvage but says buy back from Dealer.

Let me reiterate this.. a car that costs $135,000 new is owned by a person that would expect the car to run flawlessly. Before I bought the car I called MBUSA and asked the VIN to be run and see what they can tell me. Although they can't get too specific the gentleman on the phone said that because the price of the car, and the status of the owner that the car could be taken back for basically anything considering the price and would not want to lose business from the owner. I quote this and this is what sold me " From what I see here, there is nothing that would stop me from buying the vehicle" From the 2nd owner to me, I have not spent 1 $ on repairs. EVerything runs perfect on the car.

The interior is a 9/10
Exterior 8.75/10

Let me know if anyone is just interested in a straight up sale. I'd sell it straight up for 34.5k - slightly negot. dependin on how fast a sale/location of you etc can happen.

Car is located in NJ. Never driven in snow, have a Lincoln Aviator for that. I am a freak with my car care and process into buying. I assure you this vehicle is a great 1.

mikesed02@hotmail.com is my email if interested to email.

Those are the 00-02 tails. I will get pics up if there is interest but the car is in real good shape for an 01. Those are the wheels I am talking about. Car looks like this with 03 tails

whattt 34k for a 2001 cl600???

damn, i wish that my m3 was a little newer

i read this and expected like $70k+ tag, like you were looking to trade for someone's p-car

Most I see are going for 40-45k. I am priced aggressively for a sale/trade. :) The car is amazing. When I say amazing, I have owned all types of cars (semi-exotics, suvs, luxury, full out muscle cars) and this car is the best of everything. I just miss a 6spd. For me, the past 3 years I have had a 6 spd for the spring/summer.

what's a dealer buy back car? was it a lemon?

btw, that picture looks familiar, did u buy the car from that huge ebay store in TX? :)

M3WiLd 03-07-2007 11:42 AM

GeeTee: The pic is not of my actual car. But what it looks like. That is how my car looks with the wheels, color combo, etc. Except mine has the 03+ taillights. That was the only real visual difference from 03-06.

It was under Lemon (a dealer buyback) it has a few different names. Before I bought the car, I called MBUSA and gave them the VIN, and some other info. The gentlemen I spoke with said it had to do with a power windows issue. But couldn't get too specific. What sold me was after a while of reading something he said " From what I have here, there is nothing I see that would stop me from buying the car ". I have had the car for 7 months roughly, and have not had a problem at all. I just replaced the pads/rotors. Had the Service A done and the tires still have 85% tread conserv. The previous owner was a woman, and she had her friend sell it for her (he sells all high end vehicles). The women never experienced any problems. She was the 2nd owner and had it the majority of the car's life.

A Note to add: Many CL 500/600 were buybacks because of silly issues. You have to realize these cars were $95-135,000. They were also some of the 1st years they released this "supercar". So I am sure Mbenz were trying to get on the customers good graces.

If this car was a 6 spd manual - I would not be getting rid of it. It is by FAR the best car I have owned. Power, speed, handling, looks, luxury all in one. With air conditioned seats, suede roof, navi, and rear parking sensors. What more can you want. The car on the highway is an absolute bullet and is in phenomenal shape for an 01. And was driven only on average of 8500 miles a year. I almost beg you to check autotrader/ebay and see prices for an 01-02 CL600 with 40-60k miles sell for. There are a few in my price range, but they need services done soon which are $$$ and also might need tires, and when you replace pads you HAVE to replace rotors = $$$$. Plus you don't know who owned the car before if you buy from a dealer, and it very well is probably not in as great shape as this. The car might have dents, many deep scrapes, etc.

For 34k I don't see any other CL out there being a better buy, let alone a 600.

Heres a few pics I found, I forgot I had:

Do u know is the abc pump was replaced? If not then expect that to get replaced soon.. $3k..

Not trying to flame.. I owned a 00 CL500 last year for approximately for 4 months, before i decided to sell it.. It was clean title with only 36k miles i bought it from the original owner.. my abc pump was not going out but eventually will go out.. I sold it for 30k in dec 06

Sweet car but unless u got warranty expect to pay $$$.. since it has more electronics then a NASA rocket...

ALso one other thing i realized u have a cl600 if i recall correctly from mbworld.org that cl600 has a recall fix on the abc pump..

M3WiLd 03-07-2007 12:51 PM

Pump was taken care of, and it was under recall (I believe, but other way was taken care of). I am on mbworld I checked into alot of things before I bought the car.

And yes the car has alot of electronics - A buddy of mine is the owner of pinnacle motors in NJ. I had him check the car out. They are one of the best mercedes specialists in the Northeast. All there guys were flown to Germany/Cali to train on these type of cars. (SL, S, CL, CLS)
