Trunk lights on driver side won't work

I tried to do a search but no luck so here it goes. I have no dash indicators saying that my bulb is out and didnt even realize it until a friend mentioned it to me. I was thinking it was gonna be an easy fix, change the bulb and done but it didn't work out that way. I looked at the bulb carrier and it had a little rust so i scrape off the rust and try put the bulb in, still nothing. I checked the fuse, its good. so now im a little lost. it's either the bulb carrier or the wirring that goes through the car. I figure i'd give e46 a shot..thanx in advance

probably the carrier, did you try pulling the prong at the bottom of the bulb up?

you could probably have tested the carrier before ordering. just unplug it and plug it into the other side. if all the bulbs light up, it's not the carrier.

yeah tried that too and neither one lit up, if it's not the carrier i'm guessing i'll have to trace the wiring, which I don't want to do. thanx
