Front Plate

Hey, is it legal not to have a front license plate? i noticed that a lot of you dont.. or you guys just take it off to take pics?

In California, the number of plates you have to mount on a vehicle is determined by however many they send you when you register it. Thusly, everyone with a regular car gets 2 plates, and it's against the law to mount only one, or have the front one in the windshield (it's too high and not perpendicular to the road), etc. etc. Don't know how it is in NY.

In Michigan there is only one on the back required... I am moving to Mossouri where the front is one required, but I don't plan on putting one on. (I will risk it until my first ticket) I also plan on filing my company as a car dealership, in which case it will be legal for me to have only one plate. Retarded huh!!

Your in New York right? Well its illegal for you to drive around without a front tag.... I had mine off for 2 weeks and I never got pulled over for it.... I dont think I ever will...... But if I get pulled over for lets sayyyy, running a stop sign, and the cop notices its missing, he can write me up.... Also, if you get a ticket by one of those fake *** cops who write tickets, they will defenetely write you up..... But so far I have been pulled over 2 times and the cop didnt even notice...

But the law says that you have to have a front plate

im in jersey, and we're required to have one, but i never put one on. funny story, when my car was shipped here, it was accidentally sent to a dealership in Massachussetts......up there, a front plate is not required. besides, my salesman always forgets to order me a bracket so i say screw it! i've been warned by a cop to put one on.....but that was while being pulled over for doing 62mph in a 40.

In texas your supposed to have a front plate, but someone told me thats only if your car has a spot to put one...That sounds like bs, but my car doesn't have the bracket(its still wrapped in the plastic inside my trunk) What if you do a Euro plate with non matching numbers? is that an issue?

What is the ticket in Jersey for no front plate?

$44

in massachusetts if you have the new red plates your required to have two. but if you have the old green ones that arent issued any more only one is required. when i had my supra i was getting tagged once a week by a local cop so i went to the registry and switched registrations with my moms car and took her green plate. And now as i wait for my 330ci to arrive i still have the plate registered so i wont have to surrender it. ;)

It's illegal here in Calfornia, but in the 7 or so years I've had my license I have never had a front plate, have never been hassled, and don't ever plan to put one on. :pimpin:

In the 6 years since I've lived in CA, I've never been stopped, but I think the police are starting to crack down in places. I think it's because of the cameras they are installing at intersections to catch people running reds, or turning left when they're not supposed to.

When I took delivery of my car, I told them not to put one on, but to give me all the hardware necessary just in case...

Of course, I also have painted reflectors :flipoff:
