Ideas for lube on UUC poly RTABs.
 
Guys, I'm at the end of my rope here. I've had my UUC urethane RTABs on my car for a year or so. I've had to remove them and re-lube them about 6 times because the noise is so increidbly unbearable. I'm getting a little miffed. I've used Energy Suspension poly bushing grease, Mobil 1 grease, white lithium grease. All the same results. I was told to try some brake no-squeal. I'm going to give that a try. Any other ideas? Alignment is correct, torque is correct. Lube was applied liberally, but not overkill, on all surfaces.

Just switch to OEM M3 bushings with Vorshlag shims. I recently made this switch and have been completely satisfied with the effect of the shims. Oddly enough, it almost feels more solid back there now than with the UUC bushings.

I can even loan you my RTAB tool if you need it.

I haven't had that problem myself, so I've never tried any of these products, the ones I commonly see recommended are:

i don't think there is any way around it. they are poly bushings after all, so your going to have to grease them every so often. also have you tried the grease powerflex uses... the copper colored anti-seize stjuff.

Has anyone though about modifying these with a grease fitting like some other poly applications?

I might take you up on that. I talked to Chad about it yesterday. He suggested the brake stuff. He said that's what he uses on his Powerflex bushings and they're nice and quiet. I considered picking up the Poweflex, too, just to see if it's any different. Blah.

Not sure you could do that without still having to drop the carrier to get to the fitting. If you have to drop the carrier, you really wouldn't save much effort other than the removal and replacement of the through bolt. Once you've dropped the carrier and disturbed your alignment, what's one more bolt?

My UUC were quiet with white lithium grease for the 6+ months I had them in, no re-lubing. I switched setups just to see the difference since I initially bought both not knowing if I would like the urethane. So far, I think the shimmed OEM provide just as much toe control as the urethane while transmitting a little less thud into the cabin over sharp edges.

Just let me know if you decide you want to borrow the tool. The job goes pretty quick with it. Makes replacing a rubber bushing every few years seem like less trouble than re-lubing the urethane a few times a year.

True but grease fittings can be feed through poly tubing. Most industrial equipment uses this style and has one central location to grease everything... Modern industrial at least. Makes maintenance a breeze and alot faster. Just a thought.... maybe i should try to capitolize on this.

I think you'll find the tube feed to have it's own set of challenges in this particular application. Nothing worth doing is ever easy though, so don't let me discourage you if you think you can make it work.
