Rust on Rotor

1 Attachment(s)
Just got new pads and rotors all the way around. Everything is fine except its driving me nuts thats theres spots of rust where I drew the red lines in the picture. (Sorry I couldn't take a pic...its getting dark out right now, but I can post some tomorrow)

Its nothing that comes into contact with the pads, but you can see it behind the spokes of the wheel if you really look, and it bothers me.

I'm guessing just hi-temp flat silver paint? Any suggestions? Thanks

silver or black. i used black duplicolor caliper paint, same as i used on my calipers. good to some very high temps. you already have rust tho, maybe sanding that as much as you can first would be a good idea.

yeah its not on there too deeply though, I think it will come out with a stiff wire brush and some agitation. I wish it was stainless or something to begin with.... I've never seen this problem before on a BMW.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll be trying it soon

oem bmw rotors have primer on them, that is why they do not rust. use a high temp paint as mentioned after cleaning with wire brush or sand paper and then wipe down with alcohol or acetone

i have a question, if you just got the rotor why does it have rust on it already?

because unprotected steel will rust (oxidize) the moment it is exposed to h2o in any form
