Hotchkis sent the wrong f-ing bar!!

:censor:

Last week I ordered some Hotchkis sway bars for my '02 330ci, and swung by my indy shop this morning to have them installed. After about two hours, the head tech tells me the rear bar won't fit, even though the part number matches. They call Hotchkis about this and they confirm that they sent a box with the correct part number on it and that they want a picture of the bar. The tech takes a picture of the rear bar and Hotchkis says that it is indeed the wrong bar misboxed. It's a rear bar for another car put in the wrong box for the part.

So my shop puts on the front bar (which was correct) and sets it on the full soft setting. They also tell me the understeer will probably be a bit worse :tsk: and that they won't get the bar until late next week.

Meanwhile, I've got a huge front Hotchkis bar and a stock rear bar to drive around with until about the 23rd or 24th.

Thanks Hotchkis, for f-ing up. The shop owner said he wasn't too happy about it either since he said the shop basically wasted an hour trying to get a bar that wouldn't fit on, and also said "this is so typical of aftermarket parts companies."

Makes me a little hesitant to order any other mods. :censor::censor:

Hope they don't mess my order too... I can't imagine having to send back such item overseas again. Shipping to come here was $250 with UPS

Damn, that sucks. :(

Yeah, it's understeering like crazy. You know that BMW emblem that's on our steering wheel? Well, it gets turned a whole 360 degrees when I make most turns, especially at lower speeds. I hope Hotchkis hurries the hell up.

You know, seriously, not to whine, but this was my very first mod (well OK, I put Powerflex FCAB on, but my bushings honestly needed to be replaced) and was something purely to make the car handle better and then this happens. It's not like I *had* to upgrade my sway bars, and this was a big chunk of change to me. This was supposed to be a fun, happy "wow this is great" experience, and I didn't know it was going to be like this. Really, really disappointed.

sorry dude! Mistakes happen, and what's the position now?

Well, they did indeed give my shop another one, RIGHT this time, and sent a couple of t-shirts. My shop put it on and everything's good. Oddly enough though, my ride height is higher now......the car looks higher and clears the hills and curbs better now. Curious...........

I can only see that the car sits higher because your shop didn't have the car level on the ground when they tightened the bolts. The probably had the suspension hanging and the car on a lift with jackpoints. And when they tightened the bolts the suspension was set/locked at that dangling suspension. So that would preload the suspension and make it higher.
