When you have a kid, are you going to do his/her homework? Save them the time, effort, and frustration and just do it for them. If we did that they would never learn.

it's a stretch, but same thing.

Plasma. There.

Plasmas have better color, accuracy, and black level as well as more natural looking. Plasmas use phosphers like your old tube TV. Plasmas are cheaper in large sizes even though give a much better picture.

LCDs are lighter and use less energy. The also have less chance of image retention. They are also the only choice under 42".

Want in depth answers? Search one of my 100 threads about it.

Not trying to be a jerk, I have written 500 word essays on the exact subject on this forum.

Umm.. no it's not unless you plan on sitting on the same game for 5+ hours.

Dreamliner330 12-02-2008 12:28 AM

If you know your going to play a lot of games and buy a plasma anyway...you a retard.

That being said...I game some, and have a 50" Plasma...its fine.

If you game for more than 5 hours straight, then you have more problems than your choice of purchases

This is by far the worst comparison ever, people like you go on the internet and take things way too serious.

Anyway, for better picture go with Plasma but it will decrease over time (4-6 years or 50,000 hours)...LCD is a much better investment.

kamaqazi 12-02-2008 12:50 AM

ok i didnt read all the retards posts.

Buy a plasma end of discussion better in everyway i can think of that important.

IF beeing GREEN is the selling factor then idk what to tell you. But a comp monitor?

50,000 is 17 years at 8 hours per day.

:tsk:

Most plasmas are rated for a HALF life of more than that.

jgrecbets 12-02-2008 08:29 AM

see, this obviously has a little more argument left in it :4ngie:

so basically each has it's own advantage, plasma with a slightly better picture.

I'm gonna get w.e I get the best deal on.

You should really search the threads here and make a better decision then that.

It comes down to application. Is it a large room, is there a lot of light, are you concerned with contrast, do you want darker blacks, more vibrant colors, do you watch a lot of sports, play games, etc, etc, etc.

You need to analyze what you are buying the tv for and what kind of room it is going in, with that information we can give you a better suggestion. For instance:

'Hi guys, was wondering what kind of tv you think I should get. It is for a living room with two couches, looking for around 42-50". Not enough space for a tv stand so it will be wall mounted. There is a lot of light coming in from two sliding glass doors with no blinds. I play games maybe 10 hours a week and will use the tv for mostly football and movies. What can you recommend?'

With that kind of OP we can narrow it down to a specific brand and model for you. Hope that helps.

Rayce185 12-02-2008 11:22 AM

Don't plasmas only use more energy with bright images? I heard they use less with darker ones, and most of the time the screen contains a lot of dark tones, especially in movies. LCD's just use a constant amount of energy due to their backlight...

I watch movies, play and use my home PC over my Panasonic 42" 1080p plasma and couldn't be happier (maybe a larger one perhaps). My best friend has a 32" HDready and a 52" fullHD LCD, both Samsung, and I prefer my image quality over both of them.
