DIY: Ugly washer fluid tank painted black.

Well, this isn't really a DIY, and I don't know if anyone cares enough about how it looks, but it really bugged me.

My windshield washer fluid tank was this ugly yellow faded color and just a big eye sore in the engine bay, so I wanted to do something about it.

SO UGLY!!!

Took it out:

Cleaned and sanded down the whole thing, then taped up the holes:

There was some slimy sludge at the holes, near the pumps, and on the filter screen, so cleaned and rinsed those off really well:

Primered and sprayed several coats of Flat Black:

On the side that is most exposed when in the car, I put a thin strip of tape, so that when it was painted and I peeled it off, it would leave an exposed line so I can see what the fluid level is at:

SaaDiesel 12-16-2008 02:52 PM

You mean the cap to fill my coolant? It's on the right side, next to my air filter cabin......

Very nice! I'll probably give this a go next time I'm at my shop.

Did you use high heat paint? It might have been a good idea to if you didn't. :hi:
