Where to buy SMG Pump?

Unfortunately, my car has been diagnosed with the dreaded SMG pump failure. I refuse to pay upwards of 2 grand for the pump from the stealership. Anyone know where to purchase one? I'm not opposed to purchasing a used one.

Thanks!!

This isn't going to help, but I'm interested in buying an SMG sometime soon...
And I was curious as to how many miles are on your M?

Miles really have noting to do with SMG pump failure.. but normally it starts after about 70K... but if you search you'll find it happening in just about every mileage range....it just happens.. its part of the risk of owning a SMG..mine hat a little over 80K and running strong.. just have faith..lol and have a emergency fund. lol this may be stupid but im stock piling parts for my car..so far ive got a SMG pump fuel pump water pump and a SMG transmission :woot: i bought most of them before i got the car..lol

My car has about 75,000 city driven miles on it. But the other guys is right, it has nothing to do with mileage...just the luck of the draw. I havent had any major issues with the M3 until now so I don't see this as that big a deal. It's been pretty reliable otherise.

ahh, I see.
I'm going to the auction this week, so hopefully they'll be some good M's out there..

jmathew34 04-27-2009 05:22 PM

ran into the same issue this past week.

lowest price i found was ~1900, from Tischer BMW / getBMWparts.com online store.
the actual dealership was charging me ~$2800, fcuking ridiculous!!!!

I have 152k on my 2002 m3. I'm pretty sure I have the original pump still.

my m3 has 74000 miles, and i was wondering if anyone knows how to find out if the car has had the pump replaced in the past?? since i got the car used. and since theres many /ms that have failed at 20k 30k or even 40k.

Tbaby 01-16-2013 12:48 PM

I have 2003 amg BMW m3

I just got stranded for the same reason. I just had my transmission done that was 4,500 , four months later now I need a amg pump. I feel your pain. I have 89 thousand miles. This is crazy. If you find a good deal please share. Thank you and good luck with your car. Teresa frm Texas
