Does the BimmerNAV system have a stereo system of Some Kind?
 

I was looking at the BimmerNAV retrofit for my 01 330ci, but it doesn't seem to list a built in amp like other headunits or ipod, usb, cd, preouts etc. It appears as if your stereo headunit goes away.

Can someone shed some light for me?

Bimmernav is known for their retrofit bluetooth systems which is an add-on to the stock stereo system (business CD or navigation system).

are you looking at the entire nav retrofit? the radio tuner is a separate piece, it goes somewhere at the back. their retrofit kit should include this, as they say it is complete.

there is a radio module that goes in the trunk

components of Nav:

- widescreen tape or cd up front
- DVD drive (Nav unit) in trunk
- BM53 radio (in trunk)

- retrofit harness

This is a BIG job

Sounds like it isn't worth the time or money, Paying 850 is fine and then a dash install but all this mounting in the rear and what about ipod etc etc.

Depends on what you think is worth it... I spent $1400 retrofitting a complete system. OEM Nav is fantastic, there is a ton you can do with it, and lots of other OEM options to add to it. I couldn't build a system with that many features, that would utilize my factory bluetooth, support the factory TV module and reverse camera etc for anywhere near that price.
