e36 harmon kardon upgrade
first of all apologies if this has already been covered been looking up everywhere but cannot find the answer.
car is a 98 bmw m3 evolution convertible. problem is ive changed the standard headunit to a pioneer but im getting no sound (the stereo does come on).the car has a harmon kardon set up, ive tried the stereo in another car and it works fine. someone mentioned that the car has an amplifier and thats causing the problem, any ideas? thanks
I have looked into this a little myself as I wanted a little more flexibility with my head unit your problem is this: the factory HK system runs on 2 ohms and 99% of the aftermarket head units/speakers are all 4 ohm. Basically if you want to change the head you have to do a TOTAL overhall of the system (speakers and amp) because the 4ohm head will not run with a 2ohm amplifier and speakers system.... long story short unless you are REALLY good with electronics and want to spend a lot of money. put the old stock HK head back in.
