FOR RENT (cheap): Rear Wheel Bearing tool/press, Sirtools b90

I figure I'll make the tool available for rent. Its stupid for all of us to have to buy this for a one-time job. For those who don't know (or don't believe what they have read elsewhere) this job is basically impossible without the tool. I just did it and have no idea how I could have done so without the B90.

So here is how I am doing the rental:

You paypal me $260 as a deposit (what it costs to replace the tool). Then you can keep it for up to 2 weeks and send it back. (I'll pay shipping to you, you pay shipping to me, makes things easy.) Once I get the tool back, I'll refund $210. So total cost to rent the tool for 3 weeks is around $60 for you including shipping it back. If you break it, you buy it. If you lose it, you buy it. If you keep it for more than the 2 weeks, then it is $20/week for each week extra. (I'm not going to be anal here, as long as your not hanging on to it for a month and a half or something when people are waiting. I'm not going to charge you a late fee because it shows up a day late. I'm not blockbuster ;)) You don't have to buy the insurance to return it, but if USPS looses it or damages it I will keep your deposit. I'm thinking shipping will be about $10, but I will confirm this in the next day or two.

So I think ^^^ pretty much covers everything. If I think of anything else I'll post it up here. Got the idea from Luky renting out his RTAB tool here. I'm not trying to use this as a money maker or anything (I could sell the thing and make back my money faster), but I really wished someone did this when i was doing my wheel bearing, so I figure hopefully I can help some others out.

Here is a good DIY for the wheel bearing using this tool

Just got it back in. Anyone need to rent this?

I'm interested if it's available to ship immediately.

If not I'll just spring for the kit.

Shoot me a PM, or reply to the one I sent.

frog: how have your experiences been lending your tool out? Did you ever find it hard to keep track of or cumbersome remembering who rented it or when it was due back, etc.??

Tool worked out great!!!!
But re-install of the drive shaft was a BEATCH, both sides, even after putting them in the freezer.

B90 Tool is back in, anyone else need to rent it?

I had needed this tool this week and ended up finding at a local store here in town (harbor freight) a front wheel hub bearing r&r kit that worked perfect for the rear hub on a 01 325ci. Only cost 100.00 and this kit is for all front hubs so no need to buy b90.

Bearing tool

Yeah that's the tool. Once u get the axles out pressing the bearing in and out was simple.

I am not sure. My guess is yes but I can't say for certain. The tool is a sirtools b90 BMW set if you want to check out their website or google around or whatnot and try to find out.

oh2fly 05-11-2011 09:30 PM

Is it the B-90 "Master Set," or did you but a subset for your car? I'm guess from the price you paid that it's a subset.
