Question on xi Differential
So lets say your axle breaks and spins ( Not much or long..maybe 3 seconds ) inside the differential freely and you hear a grinding noise during that time. If that part of the differential is grinded now and wont hold another axle, is it possible to just replace that part of the differential? i guess you call it the input shaft or somethin?
Thanks in advance ! |
Front diff?
If so, I doubt it. There is no output flange, like in the rear diffs. The front axles fit directly into the front diff and hold in all the fluid. Are you leaking fluid? I have a spare 3.23 diff (front and rear) in great condition. Good time to do motor mounts while the subframe is dropped. How the heck did you break an axle? I doubt that 70hp up front did it... |
How hard are the motor mounts to do? I notice that if I gas it on the freeway i get shake/rumble from the motor it seems.

4 bolts for the subframe- not too bad. BUT . . . .you sound like you need an axle or two, not motor mounts. |
wish i could give ya better advice but i was considering converting my 01xi to a 01i after i broke my axles (if you don't replace the cv joints when the start clicking and drive till something breaks yes you can break the axles i did mine last thursday) anyhow i just replaced em it's an easy fix you don't have to mess with the subframe. more importantly this is all just speculation cause we don't know whats broke if anything anyway lol:)
