E46Fanatics - Used Throttle Body?

My throttle body (2000 E46 323ci) is broken (I've had it out, cleaned, checked, etc) and so I need to get a new one.

I read that the new TB needs programmed, which is a bit of a pain or I'd have changed it myself (only takes an hr or so).

Anyway... has anyone tried a second hand throttle body on these engines? Does it also need programmed like a new TB or can it work straight away? The reason why I ask is:

a) its a very easy job to change so even if I got 6mths out of a used one I'd be happy enough and;
b) its going to save me lots of money/give me time to save for a new TB.

All this electronic trickery is outside my comfort zone so forgive me if this is a silly question :rolleyes:

Only seems that the dealers can program these things over here and I'm not a fan of dealership prices, or the quality of work performed there.
