2005 M3 - Silver Gray Metallic, Black interior - Really in nearly perfect shape
75,xxx miles
$23990
Location - Raleigh area North Carolina

FACTORY: Navigation, SMG, 19" OEM wheels, HK Audio, Xenon, Moon Roof, Memory seats, heated seats, side airbags, Rear parking sensors, Cold weather, Pwr seats - both front, bluetooth, alarm, cd changer, headlight washers, rain sensing wipers (nearly all factory options)... (everything available but no rear sunshade, no power lumbar adjustment)

MODS: All mods installed January 2010 @ 71,000 miles : Borla X-pipe (Cat to Mufflers) (Borla mufflers are avaiable, but selling them separately - stock muffler is on), Bilstein PSS10 Suspension, K&N Cold air intake, H&R spacers front and rear ), Turner Rear Sway bar, H&R Front Sway Bar, Turner Bar links F/R, Tuner Camber Plates (to proper align car after the 1" lowering by the PSS10 kit), Rogue Engineering Front Control Arm And Rear Trailing Arm Bushing, smoked signals front, black grill front and side ( again all done in 2009), Tinted Windows

I do have the stock mid-pipe to go with the car.

Oil change just done with Tischer Oil change kit.
ENTIRE SMG HYDRAULIC PUMP replaced, Clutch replaced, Transmission fluid, SMG fluid, done at 52k (January 2009)
Valve adjust, external belts, spark plugs at 48k

Paint is in nearly perfect condition. Not even a door ding/dent on car. Interior has no blemishes but missing little silver (-) insert on left paddle shifter.

New Slotted front rotors and pads installed 08/15/2010.
New rear tires put on 08/16/2010 - Ventus V12's 295/30 19
Alignment done 08/17/2010
Front tires have 50% tread left.
Just got the car back from the Indy shop 08/05/2010 for a "Post Purchase Inspection". The guys were amazed at the cleanliness of the car. I made them look at all the ball joints, suspension, frame, and PSS10 set. I had them inspect SMG fluid, coolant and power steering fluid, all clear or blue. I also made them open up the tranny plug and the differential fluid fill plug to look at the quality of the fluid and all was nice and clean. They said it needs rear tires and front brakes...as I have already done.

Brother, I can't get 28k for my 06 with 23k less miles. I would say 23-24 range will be your selling price point.

Man this is sad. Can't sell an M3 for book value. What a joke. I thought I bought this car for a steal, especially with the upgrades. I thought BMW's hold value! At least not in this forum apparently. I have a few lookers local at 26,500. Wish me luck!

They do hold value but you have a lot of miles. Anything over 50k is a huge turnoff for most people. No warranty, expensive repairs etc.

If you do get 26.5 you have done well. :thumbsup:

They keep their value if they are not m3's. Most people don't want to pay the high cost to maintain. GLWS. Crazy that ZHP 330's are goin for around the same $ as a ///m. I hope you get what you want for her, and you have a nice list of upgrade's that people want but it suck's that mod's never add to the value.

The M is not a daily driver and not suitable for most people.

A little research will show it is for hardcore drivers (plenty here) but not for the mass. It is not practical for everyday use. I thought about it but decided to get a non-M, which is perfect for me.

Work's for me. It cost's an arm and a leg to maintain but my M has been more reliable than most of my previous car's. A couple kid's and that's another story, luckily I don't have thaty problem yet.

here in AUSTRALIA that 2005 m3 would be worth $45000 plus! there isnt that much difference in the value of our currency either. that is a steal!

A lot of people complain about the high price of ZHP's, but look at it the other way: there is one ZHP for sale right now on this forum, and another linked to via Craigslist, in the same color as this car, with the same mileage or a little less, for $15.5k. I'm not necessarily saying this car is overpriced, but rather that ZHP's are quite a bargain given what you get.

The roughly $10k + M3 premium seems to remain constant across the mileage spectrum, but the actual prices of the cars depend critically on mileage and condition. You CAN pay $22k for a ZHP, but it's going to be mint, and with around 20k miles or less; an M3 with similar mileage in the same condition, especially with ZCP, would almost certainly be at least $32k.

GLWS, but mileage means a lot.

Yeah I noticed when selling and then buying my second M that more than anything mileage, history(accidents or paintwork, service records), and condition determine price. With that said, 05-06s tend to fetch a bit of a premium over older models. I think $26,500 sounds reasonable. I sold my 02 M for $1,500 above kbb private party, but it also had 69k miles and a meticulous service history.

Exactly why is an M not "practical for everyday use?"

BMW service is expensive for EVERY BMW, so are you saying that NO Bimmer is practical for everyday use? The only real difference here is the Service inspection II and the valve adjustment, but that's not an extreme difference.... around an extra $1000 per 30k miles or so (since every car needs BASIC maintenance)... 33 cents extra per mile than a NON M as far as maintenance is concerned... right?


It all depends on how someone chooses to spend their "daily" lives... in a boring, "economical" grocery getter... or actually EXPERIENCING LIFE in an ///M:thumbup:

They make a lot of noise, insurance costs a fortune (especially if you're a younger driver), they don't come with a decent automatic transmission, the stock suspension is very rough, women tend to be a lot less impressed with them than you think they are, especially if they have to spend considerable time in the passenger seat, and very few children have been concieved in the back seat.

The fact that the seller is offering a beautiful car for sale after less than a month of ownership suggests that M3's are not the be all and end all for all drivers.

There are a lot of BMW's that are neither boring, economical grocery getters nor e46 M3's.

Bump for my buddy Don's old car. I can vouch for this car all the maintenance is up to date the miles don't show at all! Car is perfect all around!
