I heard about this too. Here is the dyno graph from 6speed on what looks to be the car.

Christ. A simple gust of wind. At anything over 200 MPH, the slightest little thing can cause disaster. Glad to hear he lived.

Bezor 10-24-2010 12:39 AM

Hope he isn't hurt. If he had someone riding with him, I hope they are OK also.

Insurance is a tricky thing in these situations. Hopefully he and they had it cleared up before this?

that was there 1938whp car that flipped guy is ok

leletyM3 10-24-2010 01:29 AM

Glad to hear that the driver lived!! This car looks like the UGR TT LP560 ....

Rc 415 10-24-2010 03:59 AM

Damn that was my favorite UR Lambo what a shame!

SPDu4ea 10-24-2010 07:22 AM

Sucks to hear, but no big surprise. Those high hp Gallardos frequently spin on the big end when hit by gusts and it was only a matter of time before the wind hit one just right...

edit: video from previous mile where the TTG spins under braking after every run:

McSpeed 10-24-2010 09:15 AM

It looked like he caught a gust of wind in the chute which pulled the rear end to the drivers side at 200+ mph.
from http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/l...exas-mile.html

Do they have to deploy the cute at that speed to make the stop in time or is it just to save brakes?

Apparently SW's chute failed to open on a 238mph shakedown pass friday and he wound up in the weeds with minor damage to the Supra.

edit: Monday morning QBs are calling for CO2-powered chutes as apparently using smaller pilot chutes to pull the larger main chute out aren't reliable at these speeds. They're also saying the Gallardo's chute was mounted too low

forcefedvw 10-24-2010 11:23 AM

it was richards gallardo. he is fine here is what john reed said"His car went through traps at 235mph, pulled chute which unsettled the car. The car went into a slide to the right, and then hit a small wall/embankment directly off edge of runway. Our MoTeC GPS data shows 103mph at point of impact. This launched the car into a violent series of tumbles/barrel rollsOther than his foot getting stuck, he literally walked away, but just got really beat up. The safety gear installed by Underground Racing worked wonderfully, and the driver compartment stayed intact. The rest of the car is destroyed."

Yeah i heard about it yesterday, crazy, crazy, crazy. Mad props to UGR for the type of cars they build and glad he was ok.

On another note, I heard that a busa went 278 mph, any one got more info on the busa and what its got?

BadBoostedBmwM3 10-24-2010 10:59 PM

Damn this sucks to hear. BUT, it is great that the owner walked away. Who would think that 2000whp is possible in a basically street car.

TaZaM3 10-25-2010 05:55 PM

No video yet but.......

funkboy316 10-25-2010 06:17 PM

here is a video made up of snapshots. the best part really is at the end.....snapshot of the driver walking away!

nojoda 10-25-2010 08:09 PM

amazing how he walked away.

Penguin Koolaid 10-25-2010 08:27 PM
