First aid box removal-
Hi all-as above really-car is a 318i saloon year 2000-thanx
If you're asking how to remove the under seat 1st aid box, it's quite simple.
Grab both sides of the box and pull it towards the front of the vehicle. It's just clipped onto the mounting bracket. The bracket will be held on by two or three bolts or self tapping screws. A pain to get to but not impossible.
Cheers mate no clips or anything to press while i pull then?
No, it's basically held in place by a friction type mount. It does wedge on pretty tight though...
Mine must be different-i can see a bracket on either side which look like it will come out when squeezed but its stuck solid at the back of it?
So much for relying on my memory...
I recently ordered a second box/bracket and got them in the mail yesterday and realized on mine anyway, there is a small clip right in the middle of the bracket that the box locks into.
Hopefully the pics show what I'm talking about. The close up is the clip that has to be pushed up to release the box.
Although yours may be a different design completely. Maybe someone else with an EU spec car can chime in...
I recently had to move my first aid box to another set of seats. All tips seem to relate to a later box which has tab on the inside roof of the box that needed pressed which mine didn't have.
So as to help others, here's how I removed my box. The plastic box sits in a metal cradle which is attached to the underside of the chair by three T30 screws, of which only one is accessible from the underside of the seat as seen here with the seat on its side:
So you need to remove the box from the cradle first. There are two locking tabs on either side of the box. Just squeeze the plastic at the sides, or use a screwdriver and tabs will pop off:
Now the bit that had me & lots others confused, is that there are 4 hook tabs on the top of the box which attach on to the metal cradle. These are completely out of sight. To undo these, take a screwdriver and wedge it between the top the plastic box and the metal cradle. As you do so you'll start to see the hooks (you may need to twist a little):
Now that the tops hooks are "unhooked", pull forwards towards the front of the car whilst squeezing the sides, in order keep the side tabs from snapping close.
Do not pull straight down, there are 2 inserts in the metal cradle, where the top corners of the box slot into, these prevent downwards movement:
Box removed, now you can see all three T30 screws:
All items off:
Another pic of the inside of my box, no tab in the roof of the box unlike the later Z4 models first aid boxes:
And lastly the finished product:
