Yes its very amazing :yikes: but i think it would take some time doing this.. taking apart everything. Switches, cluster, steering wheel, cd player, clima control.. mutch disassembly and assembly and some hours of soldering.. What you need most is a hell lot of patience :D

SalM 01-23-2011 12:52 PM

Yeahh tons of patience my friend took his e90 headlight baked them and installed led angel eyes he had to solder each led one by one till he got them done it took him about 4 days about 6hrs a day.

SalM 01-23-2011 12:52 PM

And I would do this over the summer if anything. when I'm on vacation and have tons of time to do this

kneescrap 01-23-2011 03:32 PM

i have 2 weeks at work and 4 weeks free :D so i got plenty of time to do this  but it is time-consuming :eeps:

I wish I had time and know-how to do this project.... a lighter more aqua blue would be awsomeeeee.

So here is what i have done today.. i always forget to take pictures.. but here are some. DON'T start on this project unless you have a lot of patience and a feew weeks off work :) Sorry the bad pictures.. some from the crappy iphone camera. New pictures will come when i'm finished :)

First i soldered 3mm led in the roof. looks like this.

And then som soldering on the light switch for the headlights. THIS was a project...
SMD leds..

And the push buttons for the fog lights had to be unsoldered. because the LED is in the button.

here is the button unsoldered from the mainboard.

To get out the LED here i had to drill away the old soldering.. i dont think this is usual solder tin.. Nott possible to unsolder. Here is it drilled

new LED soldered ..

And here the finished product

The ashtray in the back of the console

and here the window switches and lock switch with new light

so far so good. this took me about 6 hours. :D i was wondering to start with the cd player now. but my head says NO :D

some old LED's

kneescrap 01-31-2011 06:27 AM

Here are what i have done today :D

i like it :D i had to order som other leds for the multifunctional steering wheel. Because they were not plcc-2 leds.. they look like this
they are called 1206 SMD LED's and they are TINY. :D a really patience work..

How did you change the lock/unlock switch light to blue? What kind of light is it?

The unlock button is a 5mm LED, its the same as the 3mm LED. I don't have any pictures of it. but it is not is wery hard. Just open the switch box. unsolder the 5 mm LED and replace it with a new one :)

But i was checking out some more switches now. The seat heaters and the DSC switch. I think i have a problem here.. :banghead: they are so tiny that i can't even see them :lmao: hope i get the right LED for it when the new ones appear in the mail. :D

TrickTizzle 01-31-2011 11:58 PM

wow good job man!
didnt think you would get it done without messing anything up!

kneescrap 02-01-2011 05:51 AM

I did not think that I do either :lmao: but if you have patience.. and some time.. its incredible what you are able to do :D
But some more pictures. Here are the climatic control.

Here i have opened the climatic control.

Removing the LCD and the rubber gently !

finished soldering new leds and assemled

But THEESE ones are a nut.. :banghead: i can expect som headaches doing this switches.. one word TIINNYY... this is the switches for the seat heaters and the DSC

Today i'm just chilling with my new GT1 machine and doing some programming
But next step is the cd player and my steering wheel. I'm waiting on LED's for the steering wheel. :woot:

dweebz 02-10-2011 04:13 AM

wow this looks amazing! i want to do it to my car.... how did you take out all the panels? must've been hard as!

Black_BMW 02-10-2011 09:32 AM

Very ambitious project. Thumbs up for your patience and dilligence.. I am bored with the orange colour as well, I would propapbly go with white led though.. But that comes down to taste..
