New Head Unit to Replace OEM Nav Computer
I apologize in advance for posting a question that has been at least partially answered in depth with other posts; however, I haven't been able to get comfortable with my specific situation yet.
I have a 2004 330XI with the factory installed Navigation and On-board computer including the Harmon Kardon amp and speakers. Additionally, it has the BMW Assist telephone integration. I really want to get Bluetooth integration with the builtin microphone, and I don't care about perserving BMW Assist. Is it possible to replace the OEM screen with a new 2-din head unit that included GPS, Bluetooth, and would give me a port for my iPod? I was looking at the the Pioneer AVIC-X930BT. If I do this, will I need to relocate the existing unit to the trunk or can I just forego the computer altogether? Thanks |
Check out the Dynavin for our e46, you'll love it as it fits exactly what you're looking for.

I've read about the Dynavin product, and it certainly seems popular based on feedback from this site; I guess I'm just feeling partial to more main-stream manufacturers such as Pioneer, JVC, Alpine, etc. Is it fair to say that the Dynavin product overcomes the challenges that I would face in terms of cabling and compatibility with steering wheel controls if I were to try a different aftermarket head unit?

Just buy a bluetooth compatible Assist unit from a newer BMW. You may need the bluetooth antenna which is inexpensive. It will automatically add bluetooth functionality and integrate beautifully with your factory system.
