2007 Acura RDX or 2006 BMW x3?

Hey guys,

So.. my brother totaled my e46 a couple weeks ago :/ Therefore, its time to look for a new car. This time, were looking to buy a car together for now that will let us tow our jet ski around at time, and were also looking for a little bit more room. So we narrowed our choices down to these two cars..

2007 Fully loaded RDX (navi, etc) or 2006 BMW x3

Personally, although I love BMW's.. I'm leaning towards the RDX due to the fully loaded options, and I think it will do a better job towing our jetski and/or 2 ATV's. But then again, the BMW has less mileage and warranty for the next 3 years / 100k miles. With gas going up in price, im hoping that the 4cyl turbo might be less of a gas consumer, but then again BMW have awesome engines for mpg. We both do a lot of driving so were trying to find the best deal and that suits our needs.

The links to the car are listed below. Let me know what you guys think is a better choice, and if you know of any good/bad things about these cars.

Thanks in advance. And please, I ask for you to stick to the topic because at the moment, I cant buy another e46. If i ever do buy another one, itll be an m3 sometime later down the road :D

Cheers.

Not sure .. It's a great car but it only has a 4 cylinder engine and from what I saw the interior space is kinda tight. You should look at the MDX which IMO is one of the best SUV's out there. I'm not really a fan of the smaller/crossover type SUV's though so my opinion might be biased.

my cousin has an mdx, fully loaded. I drove it and it wasn't something I was looking for

The Acura will prove to be more reliable.

If I was in your situation..Id go neither.

E39 M5

Can be found for 20k these days.

All depends on what your priorities are man

being 20 years old.. an m5 after having totalled the last car is probably not the cheapest option. also, i dont think id want to tow jet skis or atvs in an m5, although i love m series

My friend has a BMW X3 and he LOVES it. It has something around 46k on it(2005) and it has yet to give him any issues. He swears by the car. Plus, they come with the really reliable M54 3.0 which will go just as long as your E46 would.

i loved my old X3. Great looking car. I loved the large sun roof. The 3.0 engine was very nice, plenty of power. If your lucky you can find a manual one... They also can come with a heated steering wheel which was a great option and the leatherette interior was nice, it had black gator skin accents as well.

Rdx is a woman's car, it's terrible on gas and is basically a Honda crv. The X3 in my opinion is also a little weak in the styling department, I'd go with the x3 though.

My exwife got an RDX as a rental and it was a nice looking SUV. I would go X3 or X5 and I am in the same boat now. Thinking about getting rid of one of my cars for an SUV so I can hit the slopes..

RDX is a womans car..Nothing wrong with it just not for me.

I've been in an X3 (I think it was around an '07-08 model) and it was horrible inside. Felt cheap and "plasticky" - I'd never own one.

Interesting... well it seems that its sort of split between which car to get, guess the test drive will be the final factor as to which we get

FWIW we considered the MDX when we bought my wife's X3. Oh, and my mom and SIL both have Honda CRVs... which are basically the same as the RDX. Nice reliable cars but not for me.
