WTT: (Almost) Free 3.46 E46 Differential

I have an automatic, in my touring, and it gets awful mileage. I'm looking for someone who has a 2.93 rear diff that wants to swap for my 3.46.

I have the tools, and I've swapped BMW diffs before, I just don't have the time to take it out of my car, buy a second diff, and try to sell this one. I want someone to come over on a saturday or friday evening to help me swap between the two.

It's almost free because I'm asking that you pay for any single-use bolts or nuts used in the install.

Hit me up via PM. Diff has 120k miles, and I'm not too picky on the mileage of your diff as a result. PM me or ask questions in this thread. I'm located in Orange County, California.

Unfortunately you have a 330, and the input flange is different. I'm not really keen on setting preload after swapping the flanges without a better torque wrench.

Good news is, I found my old E12 external torx socket! I won't need any other tools to install except a 9/16ths bolt and some nuts... Which I could swear I have left over from the time I swapped my diff on the 318ti.

Still up for grabs.

There aren't really any parts that neeed to be replaced, but it's suggested you replace the rubber o-rings around your drain plugs, and I'm going to say fluid as well. The o-rings are $0.36 a pair from BMW, and gear oil really isn't expensive.

STILL LOOKING FOR SOMEONE INTERESTED IN THE SWAP.

He does.

Ok people, do me a favor. Look at the back of your car before you reply to this thread. If your car says 330, don't bother.

Thanks!

Still looking for someone to swap with.

Dude Sal, just drive down for the weekend. It's not that far. :P

I'm a douche, but I'm going to be picky. I want a 2.93 out of a manual 328i. Hit me up!
