does anyone hunt?

Do you go hunting?
Like real guns and animals... maybe even a bow or crossbow
i want to try it... not sure if i would enjoy killing an animal as a sport
but willing to try it at least once

Used to be a regular dove hunter. I've killed a few deer and tried to kill turkey, but they're too cautious and I was never able to get close enough.

I hunt turkey and white tail deer. My in laws are nuts about hunting...that's pretty much all they do. My wife's uncle just completed the Big 5 of Africa and was recognized in our local safari club chapter. That guys house is like a hunting museum.

hunter, trapper, fisherman here. Not so into it that I like wear realtree around everywhere and have cabella's stickers all over my truck though.

I used to be a poon hunter. But had to give that up.

I hunt white tail. I've always done it with a centerfire rifle but next year I'm going to venture out during flintlock season (just got a .50 black powder). I want to try pheasant hunting, as well.

rdp330ci 04-21-2011 02:23 PM

ruffed grouse in Minnesota, huns and chukkers and pheasants in utah, mountain quail all over.....and doves off my back porch.

Used to do quite a bit of deer hunting in S.C. but getting up in a tree stand at 4am isn't that fun anymore.

What is a good beginner hunting trip?
I'm sure i shouldn't be trying to bring down a huge buck on my first trip out

BoogetyBoogety 04-21-2011 02:43 PM

I go up and down the aisles, does that count?

I like the youtube videos where it's the hunter that gets hurt.

Dove, doesn't get much easier than that. They audibly let know you they're flying just to give you a head's up.

shotguns. 12, 16 or 20GA. no rifles on the doves unless you want to never hit one :-)
