My TT Stage 2 Build (Step 1) Pics

So the car has been eating oil like crazy because before the turbo it sucked up a lot of water and killed some rings. Now the boost is making it worse anyways...

I thought I guess its time for stage 2 plus a little. The goal is 415RWHP.

So far I only plan on:

CP 8.8:1 Forged Pistons
Hone and deck the block
Same turbo with a .82 a/f exhaust housing
and more boost:4ngie:

Not sure if I'm doing anything to the head/valves.

I worked on it for about 5 hours today.

Oil in the intercooler is from a bad CCV keeping the turbo from draining.

Got frustrated because i could get the down pipe/wastegate tube off and out of the way.

(all done with 2 jack stands in my apartment parking lot)

Any advice welcome. BTW i planned on leaving the transmission attached.

Idk bout hardcore but sounds good.

Anyways I only got an hour in today then the rain came :tsk:
In that hour of unbolting the transmission from the block I realized I'm an idiot and the reason I couldn't pull the engine yesterday was because i forgot to take off the shifter brace....? is that what its called not the actual shifter link.:banghead:

Really excited for you.

I always did my best work in parking lots at school. Well, parking lots and car wash bays :)

zx5rider 04-28-2011 05:18 PM

Car wash bays? Oh man don't sound like a good idea.

how much boost are you planning to run with that compression? seems pretty low for DD use

between 12-15psi

Activ3 04-28-2011 11:05 PM

goodluck OP!

sedanpowersc 04-28-2011 11:12 PM

I'm confused, lower compression typically means you need higher boost to reach the same hp but allows you to run more boost, why get lower compression pistons and only run 1.5 higher psi over the stage 2 kit? doesn't seem like it would cover the loss to compression. maybe thats just how it works on smaller displacement engines. but are you planning on deck plate honing yourself or gettin it done somewhere? i'm very interested in your build :]

Looks good.

One piece of advice: Take the turbo off before you pull the engine/tranny out.

Also, get one of these: http://www.princessauto.com/workshop...keyword=engine
