NYPD Damages 5 Series BMW while towing after idiotic park job

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIGVD...el_video_title

I filmed this at the Brooklyn half marathon in Coney Island, NY, This driver thought he had parked somewhere that made it impossible to tow his BMW 5 series sedan. He was mistaken, however, and the vehicle was damaged in the towing process.

are you fkn kidding me...

deadpass 06-12-2011 04:39 PM

I wonder how that works with insurance and whatnot. Sure you parked where you shouldn't, but couldn't those guys just have booted it?

Snik 06-12-2011 04:48 PM

wow. im curious too, who pays for the damage.

BimmersGarage 06-12-2011 04:57 PM

First,
Thanks OP for capturing the incident. It was funny.
Second,
I guess illegal parking is the normal around the region...? Who would even think of parking like That just to avoid being towed?
Lastly,
Did you see that the rear parking brakes were still engaged while it was being dragged up the flatbed?

Gheybe 06-12-2011 04:58 PM

Definitely wanna know how this ended up for the woman who did this.

:eeps:

Agreed, not sure how it would work but I thought it was interesting haha

GoingNuts 06-12-2011 05:31 PM

The insurance won't be paying. It's an ugly car anyway. No big loss.

that would actually be because the car was still in park....although they probably did have the parking brake on.

spikester550 06-12-2011 08:30 PM

wow.....

yaboc 06-12-2011 08:45 PM

ouchh...

delmarco 06-12-2011 09:43 PM

got damn this is one car owner that needs prepaidlegal! LMAO!

At any rate most tow truck legalities start and ends with this motto "Owner Of Illegally Parked Vehicle Is RESPONSIBLE for EVERYTHING...."plus it is the NYPD doing their job so it would be pointless to sue "them" in court over this.

flashmeow 06-12-2011 09:52 PM

my question is how did he managed to park there in the first place. did he hop a curve or something?

Steven747 06-12-2011 10:20 PM

wow that was confusing. how did he get on the grass patch? it seems where the grass and the sidewalk meet is a 3 foot high bush.

op coulda got a bettta angle :)

It is a 3 foot high bush pretty much..behind me was the boardwalk and the grass was a circle surrounded by those cement flower beds with gaps in between them. Evidently the car owner squeezed between this narrow opening and managed to park the vehicle there.

falcon1209 06-13-2011 10:22 AM

:( If only I could view streaming media at work. I need a good laugh right now.
