Rogue Ikon + BimmerBrake Headers = LOUD
 

I just had the Bimmerbrake headers installed on my 330i with my current Rogue Ikon Muffler. It definitely sounds nice, but it's really loud from mid-high rpms.

My mechanic suggested me to put on some Magnaflow cats to tone it down and that will also enable me to pass emissions.

Any idea how much quieter by putting on hi-flow cats will tone the exhaust down? Will it be as quiet as when I had stock headers on or not?

Nope.

I had headers with an Ikon and stock piping and resonators. That's probably my favorite exhaust setup. I can't imagine you not liking it.

I like it but it's too loud for my liking to drive it daily. I have the 2nd resonator removed previously with my Ikon setup. So putting on hi-flow Cats won't fix the issue? How come it's quiet with the stock cats then?

Right, it won't fix the issue. Put the resonator back in.

Is the Ikon + Headers setup louder than your current one? I think you have the Borla + Headers right?

No, never had a Borla. I have a single 3-inch system with a Vibrant muffler. You can literally hear me coming from miles away.

What happened to the magnaflow?

That's been gone for a long time. 3 inch made good power over the Magnafllow :)

This. The rouge ikon + headers = :drool: the best sound for the price. Then I'd say headers + Borla full catback. But its understandable if it's a bit too loud for your taste for a daily driver, to each it's own. Id say get some resonators in and the cats will help reduce the sound as well.

But no offence again, but any exhaust setup with headers will be relatively loud. I think the most quiet one would headers + magnaflow catback exhaust. It's pretty nice at cruising speeds. But again to it's own. I think that it would've been better if you got the TS3 and just kept stock headers so that it would've been a bit more quiet, of course, not as much power ;) Hopefully you can get it a bit quieter.

I had previously removed the 2nd resonator when I got my Rogue Ikon muffler installed years back. If I put the 2nd resonator back on, will it make a difference in terms of toning it down?

Or how about putting hiflow cats and the 2nd resonator down, will that help?

Do one thing at a time, reinstall your 2nd resonator & see how that sounds.

does anyone has a Rogue Ikon for sale? and this thread would be better with some video clips. I'm installing my B&B headers this weekend... And I know I'm going to want to get a performance muffler.

Yes, the ikon is only a muffler just like the BMW performance.

Doesn't need to be toned down. Sounds excellent.
