Nice ride, shame you have to sell her. The first car I ever drove was a red 87 IROC... My dad still owns it.

If yours is an 86 it could have been one of these:

EDIT: My bad, those are actually 87's on the trailer. They have the CHMSL on the spoiler instead of the rear glass.

HAHAHAHA NICE PIC!! These things really are a dime a dozen. But hard to find not rusted out or beat up.

Mines got only a little rust and the body is a little beat up, but i young and dumb, and trying to build a track car...

yeh i was actually going to boost her but its just not worth the risk with such thin cylinder walls. The motor was supercharged running 11s in another camaro at one point in her life.

And actually it may come with cooler 17x9.5 ZR1s. Same wheel. Slightly wider.

Obviously the ones in the pictures are on my bmw now

Thanks

I doubt itll get sold on this thread. I have it up on thirdgen.org. and was on craigslist at one point :hmm:

Im just gonna keep cleaning it up and making it run better. Maybe register it and drive it around. Bring me back to the younger days... 2 yrs ago?

mjdehlin 10-27-2011 11:35 PM

Yeah they built a shitload of IROC's back in the 80's. Finding a nice original one these days is tough... especially since the factory paint on those cars is terrible. In the 80's in Van Nuys, CA the EPA placed restrictions on solvent based paints so there was all kinds of experimenting with new methods. Lots of cars had delamination of the basecoat from the primer or clearcoat that would eventually flake off. I think the Norwood, Ohio cars usually fair a little better.

If you've never read though that thread over on thirdgen.org it's a pretty cool read and interesting to see photos of cars fresh out of the factory waiting to be shipped.
