What BMW has a lower ratio bolt in diff (to the E46 M3)?

I remember reading about an old BMW that had a LSD that would bolt up in place of the E46 M3s diff, with a lower ratio (IIRC 3.15, 3.23, something like that). It might have been a seven series. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks!

Not that bolts in, but you can likely swap internals with another bmw diff - dunno if the m3 is a type 188 or 210, but both are common.
